| | Tim Mcgraw Southern Voice CD (2009)
Little Bit Crazy music CDs
$15.25 Based on title alone, it would seem that SOUTHERN VOICE picks up on the harder country edges of LET IT GO, but that's not the case: this is Tim McGraw's rockiest album yet, opening with a slow, spacy crawl called "Still" that would not be out of place on a record by a U2 knockoff and taking ...

| | Carrie Underwood Play On CD (2009)
Little Bit Crazy album
$11.17 Daisy in her hair aside, Carrie Underwood looks flat-out glamorous on the cover of PLAY ON, which is a pretty fair indication of what awaits listeners on her third album. Carrie is still nominally a country artist and sometimes will sing supported by fiddles and steel guitar, but this is crossover pop pure and simple, whether it's the thundering rhythms on the Shania-styled strut "Cowboy Casanova" or the succession of maudlin melodies on the preponderance of power ballads. Carrie takes a much stronger presence as a writer here, co-authoring seven of the 13 songs, and she's attracted to hookless showstoppers designed to showcase ...
| | Taylor Swift Fearless CDs (2008) With DVD; Bonus Tracks; Special Edition
Little Bit Crazy CD music
$13.99 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, a big sister instead of a big star. Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective of a woman who's perhaps twice that age--a sly trick for the 18-year-old Swift. There may be a hint of youthfulness to her singing but that's the only hint of girlishness here; her writing--and she had a hand in penning all 13 tracks here, with six of them bearing her solitary credit--is sharply, subtly crafted and the music is softly assured, never pushing its hooks too hard. Like many country-pop albums of the 2000s, ...
| | Druha Trava New Freedom Bell CD (1999)
Little Bit Crazy music CDs
$14.59 Recorded in May 1998. Includes liner notes by Peter Rowan and Robert Krestan.
Veteran folkie Rowan joins Czech bluegrass band Druha Trava to form an interesting second grass fusion. Certainly guitarist/vocalist Rowan is the focal point for all the tunes, singing in English, but the Czech's, especially banjo virtuoso Lubos Malina and exceptional lap steel and dobro player Lubos Novotny, mesh well musically as if they had been playing together for decades. Electric bass guitarist Jiri Meisner, second guitarist/mandolinist Martin Ledvina are the other instrumentalists, with guest drummer and background vocals added on select tracks. Of the more traditional bluegrass cuts "Moonlight Midnight" is the most energetic with group vocals, "The Tree Of Leaf & Fire" showcasing Malina's brilliance, "Lost Melody" typically poppish and "Dust Bowl Children" heartily rambling yet haunting, with Rowan's cowboy affectated slight yodel vocals. Three songs are sung by Robert ...
| | Alison Brown Best Of The Vanguard Years CD (2002)
Little Bit Crazy songs
$15.05 Sometime back, Alison Brown established herself as an innovative banjo stylist and founded her own record label (Compass). It's easy to forget that she started off playing with another Alison, Alison Krauss that is, and recorded a number of solo albums for Vanguard. Best of the Vanguard Years draws from Brown's four Vanguard albums, recorded in the early to mid-'90s. As with her later recordings, she has composed material that stretches the limits of the banjo and traditional acoustic music: "Cara's Way (The Little People)" resembles ...

| | Tom Taylor Running Late CD (2008)
Little Bit Crazy CD music
$15.19 Tom Taylor, a singer/songwriter based out of Vancouver, BC was first introduced to music when his grade ten English teacher Al Horne played âMr. Tamborine Manâ on his big twelve string acoustic guitar. From that day on, Tom was hooked on acoustic folk/roots music. Soon after came Dylan, then Neil Young, then John Prine and many others who inspired Tom to pick up the acoustic guitar and begin his own songwriting journey. It was at Hillside Secondary School that Tom also met his future band mates David Hughes, Chad Chilibeck and Dean Waisman. The quartet formed âShe Stole My Beerâ, released two albums and toured extensively. When the band decided to call it quits, Tom decided to pursue songwriting as a solo artist. He attributes his songwriting style largely to influences the likes of Joe Ely and John Hiatt. "King of July", Tomâs first solo album, features the guitar playing of Canadian string virtuoso Steve Dawson, renown for his work with Canadian group "Zubot and Dawson" as well as playing with Kelly Joe Phelps. "With his help it went really quickly," says Taylor. "I've crossed paths with him over the years. He's a fantastic guitar player and I just thought it was the kind of thing I wanted on the record." 'King of July' was licensed by Curve Music and released in Canada, the Netherlands, ...
