Bio/Filmographies; English Subtitles Rainer Werner Fassbinder's MARTHA presents a case study in abuse, terror, and victimhood in the form of its main character, the aging spinster Martha (Margit Carstensen). Suffering a constant stream of verbal abuse and domination of her life by both by her father and mother, Martha feels little remorse when her father dies suddenly while on vacation in Rome. Upon her return home, Martha chooses to escape from her mother by marrying Helmuth (Karlheinz Bohm). She soon finds, however, that Helmuth provides not rescue, but a further descent into terror. Martha Reviews: "The honeymoon-sunbathing scene and its aftermath is one of the most deranged bits in the history of cinema -- check it out!"

Martha film
$13.59 In THE BIRDS, Alfred Hitchcock's heart-pounding follow-up to PSYCHO, the director couples a tone of rigorous morality with dark humor to create a thriller that begins as a light comedy and ends as an apocalyptic allegory. Tippi Hedren (Melanie Griffith's mother) carries the picture in her first film role ever, embarking on a career as an icy-cool leading lady. Loosely based on a Daphne du Maurier story and a Santa Monica newspaper account, "Seabird Invasion Hits Coastal Homes," THE BIRDS also features groundbreaking special effects that, in 1963, surprised and delighted audiences.
Wealthy reformed party girl Melanie Daniels (Hedren) enjoys a brief flirtation with lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a San Francisco pet shop and decides to follow him to his Bodega Bay home. Bearing a gift of two lovebirds, Melanie quickly strikes up a romance with Mitch while contending with his possessive mother and boarding at his ex-girlfriend's house. One day, during a birthday party for Mitch's younger sister, a flock of birds attacks the children in what seems to be a random incident. In fact, it signals the beginning of a massive avian assault on the residents of the town--a mysterious assault that no one can explain...and from which no one may come out alive.
This 120 minute feature film is a DVD starring Rod Taylor, Tippi Hedren and Jessica Tandy.

Martha film
$13.39 IN A YEAR OF 13 MOONS presents a darkly comic, melodramatic study of a life in the midst of transformation and discovery. Erwin Weishaupt (Volker Spengler) desperately loves his girlfriend, and becomes devastated when she casually remarks that she wishes he were a woman. This comment sets Erwin on a journey to Casablanca, where he superficially transforms himself into a woman, Elvira. Upon her return to Frankfurt, Elvira wanders the streets, in search of both her past and her future. This film carries even greater emotional weight because Fassbinder began production only a short time after his own lover's suicide.
When the object of his affection off-handedly commented too bad you're not a girl", Erwin disappeared to Casablanca and returned as Elvia. Now, adrift and alone amid the maze of the streets of Frankfurt, Elvira revisits the people and places of his past, desperately searching for the identity and love she's never known. Rainer Werner Fassbinder's masterpiece defies categorization and features a breathtaking central performance by Volker ...
