Romantic Piano's Of Ronnie Aldrich album
$22.75 Ronnie Aldrich is one of the leaders of easy listening piano music. This collection features 24 tracks of soft piano music.
This two-fer from Dutton Vocalion features a pair of out-of-print Ronnie Aldrich LPs, The Romantic Pianos of Ronnie Aldrich and The Magnificent Pianos of Ronnie Aldrich. Both albums were issued in 1963, and contain two-dozen tracks dominated by laid-back romantic themes, including "I'll Never Smile Again," "Moonlight in Vermont," "How Deep Is the Ocean," and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." This is an enjoyably relaxing reissue from Aldrich's deleted catalog on London Records. ~ Al Campbell

| | Stone Roses Second Coming CD (1994)
Romantic Piano's Of Ronnie Aldrich music CDs
$5.55 The title is a joking reference to the messianic anticipation that built up in the years between the Manchester, England rock band's 1989 debut--which Britain's New Musical Express magazine ranked as the greatest album of the '80s--and this 1995 follow-up. It's also a description of the Stone Roses' sound, a sort of second coming of '60s and '70s blues-rock, re-born with a funk beat. Back in '89 it sounded like a revolution, and it was: crossing Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan with club music, it helped set the template for all British alternative rock to follow, from Blur to the revamped U2. Lenny Kravitz is among the Americans who owes a debt.
SECOND COMING consolidates that sound with a see-sawing mix of hard-rock driving songs--with chunky electric guitar riffs and big beats--and acoustic anthems that immediately sound like they've been on the radio for a dozen years or more. The latter group ...

| | Kid Kilowatt Guitar Method 1996-1999 CD (2004)
Romantic Piano's Of Ronnie Aldrich album
$11.59 More than five years after it was committed to tape, Kid Kilowatt -- the indie rock supergroup comprised of Cave-In's Stephen Brodsky and Adam McGrath, Converge's Kurt Ballou, and Piebald's Aaron Stuart -- finally unveiled the epic Guitar Method. A lost album structured from songs that were written between 1996 and 1999 and recorded postbreakup, the disc shifts from roaring, expansive rockers like "Bicycle Song" to crunching anthems like "Ted Nugent" and on to lilting, near-ballads like "Memorial Drive" with inexplicable ease. Soft interludes like "Cadence for a Rainy Day" augment the flow of the disc, but the cohesiveness of the material suggests the lads in Kid Kilowatt exited ...

| | Fiddle Fire: 25 Years Of The Charlie Daniels Band CD (1998)
Romantic Piano's Of Ronnie Aldrich music CDs
$10.05 Charlie Daniels displays his exceptional fiddle playing in this compilation of his best fiddle songs. From the obvious inclusions like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and "The South's Gonna Do It Again," to lesser-known romps like "Texas" and "Talk to Me Fiddle," there isn't a bad track on the disc. Daniels delivers perhaps the definitive version of the country-bluegrass "Orange Blossom Special," and downright rocks the log cabin with "Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye." An excellent collection of Tennessee mountain-inspired fiddle-sawing. ...

| | Call Me Lightning Soft Skeletons CD (2007)
Romantic Piano's Of Ronnie Aldrich album
$5.95 On its second full-length album, 2007's SOFT SKELETONS, Call Me Lightning offer up another raucous set of jerky, fuzzed-out indie-punk. Clearly drawing from its Midwestern predecessors, the Stooges, this Milwaukee-based band excels at crafting barbed anthems that threaten to descend into chaos ...
