This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
Although not as flawless as 1969's WILLY & THE POOR BOYS or 1970's COSMO'S FACTORY, PENDULUM (also released in '70) certainly has its moments. It may only contain one certified hit single (the chugging, melancholic "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?," one of singer/songwriter John Fogerty's best), but both "(Wish I Could) Hideaway" and "Hey Tonight" have become staples on FM classic rock radio over the years, thanks to Fogerty's memorable melodies and inimitably gritty singing style.
Interestingly, PENDULUM is CCR's most ambitious album, with progressive arrangements, instrumentation (including brass and a vocal choir), and a higher gloss to the production. But Fogerty's songwriting is as solid as ever. The album's bluesy opener, "Pagan Baby," with its great guitar riff and tight ensemble playing, remains one of the band's most underrated songs. The style is mixed--from the poppy singalong "Molina" to the ballad "It's Just A Thought" (which contains some fine swirling organ work) to the adventurous album-closer "Rude Awakening #2" (one of the band's few instrumentals)--but PENDULUM proves that even when the band branched out, they could still deliver the goods.
Creedence Clearwater Revival: John Fogerty (vocals, guitar); Tom Fogerty (guitar); Stu Cook (bass guitar); Doug Clifford (drums).
Liner Note Author: Joel Selvin. **Super Audio CD (SACD) Hybrid** This CD will play in standard CD players. A Super Audio CD player is required to take advantage of the SACD sound technology. Pendulum Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Best-sounding CCR available This album, while slightly below Creedence's very best (all of the albums from Bayou Country through to Cosmo's Factory)is still very good and the Analogue Productions SACD hybrid version is the version to get because of the great sound, thanks to mastering by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray. It's worth getting even if, like me, you don't have a SACD player. The redbook, or regular, CD layer sounds sensational. Get it while it's still in print! Rockin and Trippy I think this is the only CCR album that is really trippy. I love it because it has the original CCR sound with some new sounds added in. If you are into CCR and also psychedlic music, this a must have. Submitted by Adam (Los Angeles) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
sensational Like the Beatles they are uncomparable. John Fogerty is fantastic. This must have been a sad album for john with his brother leaving the band. But wonderful songs. Submitted by chris (Adelaide Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
GREAT ALBUM, go buy it now I have all 7 SACD albums installment on this APO label. Mostly great albums and great sounds too.
Buy "Cosmo's Factory", "Willy & the Poor Boys", "CCR 1st LP", "Pendulum" SACDs. They're great.
Avoid "Green River" and "Bayou Country" on this APO label new SACD series, which I think sounded not as great (muffled). "Mardi Gras" is 50/50, a good recording quality but not a great songs material.
See my other review on "Green River", "Bayou Country", "Cosmo's Factory", "Willy & the Poor Boys" SACDs.

Creedence Clearwater Revival's continued their reputation as a consummate singles act with the release of COSMO'S FACTORY. Three of its singles, the blazing "Travelin' Band," the driving sting of "Up Around The Bend," and the irresistibly sunny fantasia hoedown "Looking Out My Back Door" (complete with tambourines and elephants) each achieved gold status. These tunes hit the mark completely, capturing ...

| | Diana Jones My Rememberance Of You CD (2006)
Pendulum CD music
$13.05 With My Remembrance of You, Diana Jones has released a top-notch set of Americana that deserves mention alongside works such as Gillian Welch's Time (The Revelator), Kelly Willis' What I Deserve, and Iris DeMent's Infamous Angel. Here, Jones relies upon Appalachian string band-style instrumentation, but her writing is of a progressive, poetically charged strain. The spare, pretty, and weary "Pony" unfolds the tale of a young Dakota Indian girl of the Plains in 1924. An ominous, sawing violin spurs the haunting "Cold Grey Ground," which is a Confederate soldier's lament. The waltzy "Up in Smoke" is one of the best songs here, with a strong vocal performance from Jones, showcasing her fragile, vibrato-laden falsetto swoops. The tragic, tuneful "Willow Tree" and the stark, pretty title track are highlights as well. What resonates most strongly on My Remembrance of You is Jones' carefully controlled empathy for her protagonists and her ability to lash their inner lives to nuanced and melodic songcraft that has one foot in tradition and another in something altogether unique and new. ~ Erik Hage
Offering her listeners a rare gift of original songs with uncommon depth and beauty infused with time-honored values of traditional American Music, Diana Jones has been called the new Emily Dickinson.Like Dickinson, Diana's work is informed by the themes that have run through her life-love, loss, and redemption. Much of her music takes you on a journey back to her roots in the hills of Eastern Tennessee, though it's certainly not a direct route. Adopted as an infant and reared in New York, Diana was eventually reunited with her birth family and the music that had always moved her. From the mournful lament of a dance hall girl, to the stomping melodic rant of a young woman's burial instructions, each of Diana's original songs draws life from the rich cross currents of country, country blues and mountain music. The result is vibrant, contemporary music with a gritty and timeless feel.“My Remembrance of You,†released in February 2006 in both the US and UK, is the first record on the NewSong Recordings label. Gar Ragland, the director of the Mountain Stage NewSong Festival, invited Diana to be the first artist on the new label after seeing her perform at the festival. “Without question, Diana Jones is one of the most talented Americana artists I have heard in years. Her music cuts straight to the soul with the economy of small batch bourbon.â€....Gar Ragland While her involvement with NewSong has opened many doors, including an appearance on Mountain Stage, the nationally syndicated radio show, she is certainly not new to the songwriting community. Diana honed her skills in the fertile Austin, Texas music scene where she ...
