Do you remember where you were the first time you heard 'The Snow Goose'' 'Subterranea'' 'Selling England By The Pound''
You will never forget the first time you hear Knight Area's 'The Sun Also Rises'!
This conceptual work was conceived over a period of 20 years by Gerben and Joop Klazinga, 'The Sun Also Rises' was ultimately composed and recorded during the past three years by keyboardist/drummer Gerben and flautist Joop with an assortment of musicians from the Dutch progressive rock scene. The results is a stunning work of epic progressive rock that will appeal to fans of Camel, Pendragon, Genesis, and IQ.
Knight Area uses a full sonic palette that will stir the soul of any old or new school symphonic rock fan. Mellotron/flute interplay, Hammond organ, liquid lead synth and soaring guitar solos - it's all here! Dramatic vocals and a dynamic mix propel this emotion filled story.
We think 'The Sun Also Rises' is a special release - a future

Best Prog ever...! Sorry, my first attemp failed. But this is my opinion on this album:
It's really hard to really want to jump at the opportunity to hear a new prog-rock band, especially with many bands out there jumping on the bandwagon, trying to become the next Yes, King Crimson, or even Spock's Beard or Flower Kings. But that opportunity was quickly jumped at with Knight Area hitting the prog rock scene with with one phenomenal record, that not only aligns itself with many of the leading classic and contemporary bands, it gives them a run for their money. Coming off the heals of The Sun Also Rises, a record with it's technicalities and concept intact. Brilliant !!!!!!
Hope they're coming to Canada or Norh of USA. Submitted by Jimmy (Quebec, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Brilliant sympho in old tradition Yes, I do have an enormous collection of albums, but it always pleases me to add a fantastic album and this “The Sun Also Rises” from Knight Area is such an item. Believe it or not, but this work of art was conceived over a period of 20 years by Dutchman Gerben Klazinga (music) and his brother Joop (lyrics) as a testimony of symphonic rock.
Actually composed and recorded over the past three years – with the help of some of the best musicians from the Dutch progressive rock scene – this is an album that could easily compete with the best work of bands such as Arena, IQ, Marillion, Pallas and Pendragon. The sound will appeal to all lovers of old (and even) new school of symphonic or progressive rock and the vocals (a great Mark Smit!), the combined play and the production (courtesy of the Klazinga’s) are all really superb. Count to that the excellent artwork for the cover (indeed, it’s Mattias Norén again!) and you have an album that almost deserves full marks. A must find for all lovers of melodic progrock! Don’t let it slip out of your hands!

Too many Knights round this table This record contains many elements associated with progressive rock; melody driven compositions swathed in mellotrons and guitar solos backed by excellent production.
Where it falls short is in its predictability. Too many of the 10 tracks on offer lack innovation leaving the listener with the conclusion that they've heard it all before.
Maybe the fact that 11 musicians contributed to the end product also helps to water down the substance.
In conclusion this record falls short of the quality of IQ and Camel to whom they have been compared.

Sun Also Rises album
$8.55 There's a breed of (post-1980s) bands with the same degree of grand rock experimentalism as Pink Floyd and Yes, who simultaneously adhere to the concept of concise songwriting. Porcupine Tree is one such band--their sound is a balance of lush ambient textures, charming vocal harmonies, rock & roll directness, and acoustically- and electronically-generated sounds. Their debut IN ABSENTIA shows all these elements ...

Sun Also Rises songs
$15.89 This disc of rare live material from the MC5 begins with spiritual advisor Brother J.C. Crawford inviting fans to come to the band's upcoming free shows at Detroit's Grande Ballroom, where the MC5 will be recording a concert for their first album on Elektra Records. What follows is three outtakes from the two shows recorded for the epochal Kick Out the Jams, and while nothing here quite matches the energy of "Ramblin' Rose," "Borderline," or the title cut from the Loudest and Wildest Live Album Ever, it does feature some rare high-fidelity MC5 live stuff that didn't appear on that album. However, once track five, "I'm Mad Like Eldridge Cleaver," kicks in, listeners are back in the land of muddy-sounding and poorly packaged MC5 recordings, which have become surprisingly common in recent years. The Kick Out the Jams outtakes -- "Motor City Is Burning," "I Believe to My Soul," and "Rocket Reducer No. 62" -- capture the band sounding tight and focused, and the recording quality is rich and clear. The other material finds the band in more "experimental" mode, especially on "I'm Mad Like Eldridge Cleaver" (which is never as good as its brilliant title) and the meandering blues jam "Ice Pick Slim," and while the ...
