Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) 4 stars

4 stars Great Video Compiliation
Ideal for Canadians/Americans who love the music but can never in their wildest dreams hope to see the videos on MTV or Muchmusic. Not recommended as much for fans who enjoy only one specific genre of metal because this compilation comprises many different types: death metal, black metal, goth metal, power metal, etc. Read the track listing before you buy. If you like even half of the artists listed, I would recommend this DVD set. About 50 videos (3 or more hours of music) and some live bonus stuff makes this worth the money. =)

Monsters Of Metal - Vol. 1 video
CD $12.95  4.7 stars Top 500 Audio Samples
This is the album that started it all for Twisted Sister. With the group's classic lineup complete and producer Pete Way (of UFO and Waysted fame) at the helm, TS put to wax its early club material and in the process came up with one of the greatest hard-rock debuts ever. "What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You)," with its hypercharged metal riff, has been the band's concert-opener for years. "Bad Boys (Of Rock 'n' Roll)" is a testosterone-fueled singalong with a great hook and lead guitar lick. "Shoot 'Em Down," which received some airplay upon release, features the furious riffs and anthemic qualities that would characterize much of the band's material through the years. "Destroyer" is as heavy as heavy gets, while the title track was singled out by Tipper Gore's P.M.R.C. for being about sado-masochism and bondage (in reality, it's about guitarist Eddie Ojeda's throat operation). "I'll Never Grow Up Now!" is a rebellious teen anthem of independence. UNDER THE BLADE is for all die-hard metal aficionados and for those ...

Frank Sinatra Show With Ella Fitzgerald DVD  (1959)

Monsters Of Metal - Vol. 1 review
DVD $10.19  Top 500
Two of the twentieth century's most loved performers come together in this rare, remastered edition of a live broadcast on December 10, 1959. The "first Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald, who by the end of her illustrious career had amassed 13 Grammys and sold over 40 million records, was the special guest of Ol' Blue Eyes; it is one of the few time the two performed together. The show appears here in its entirety, including even the commercials, and Sinatra's current flame, Juliet Prowse, who starred in CAN CAN with him, makes appears as a guest as well. The weekly show, normally filmed at Hollywood's El Capitan Theater, had traveled to Palm Springs for this taping, and the perpetually sunny location was experiencing some unusually foul weather; this initiated some improvised sets and light teasing of Sinatra from the cast. This show as taped on December 10, 1959, a rare rainy day in Palm Strings, ...

Devin Townsend's maniacal/wacky tendencies duel with his instinct for skull-crushing heaviness on ADDICTED, the second in a planned trilogy of albums he's put together since retiring his ultimate metal band, Strapping Young Lad, a few years back. Anneke van Giersbergen, formerly of the Gathering, is Townsend's vocal partner throughout much of the album, creating a Lacuna Coil-esque effect as he roars and she croons and the guitar riffs ride almost disco- and techno-like rhythms. "Bend It Like Bender" is a particularly weird blend of metal and Hi-NRG, something ...
