In appearance, this two-disc anthology would seem to be an exercise in hearse chasing, issued just months after the great singer's death. In reality, no matter what the intention of the record label, this anthology accomplishes what virtually every other attempt failed miserably to do: definitively represent all the stages of Simone's career. While RCA has done a number of fine Simone collections, including The Very Best of Nina Simone: Sugar in My Bowl 1967-1972, which featured a number of unreleased tracks, even they haven't accomplished this: a double-disc set that encompasses her entire career with recordings from every label she recorded for, including Bethlehem, Colpix, Philips, RCA, CTI, and Elektra. The lion's share of the material may come from RCA, but she spent the longest part of her career there. The obvious beginning is with "I Loves You Porgy," from her Bethlehem album Little Girl ...

He is a Hartt School of Music graduate with a degree in Jazz studies and Music Management. For five years he studied with and is a protege of the world renowned, professor and jazz saxophonist, Jackie Mclean. Before launching his career as the front man of the incredible, contemporary jazz band from Hartford ("Just Us"), he has performed and recorded with the hottest contemporary gospel band in the Tri-state area ("A Better Way").David has performed at venue's along with Mary J. Blige, Deborah Cox, LL Cool J, Brian Mcknight, Keith Washington, Sean Puffy Combs, Kid Capri, Biz Markie, John P. Kee, Karen Clarke, Marion Meadows, Roy Ayers, Donald Harrison, Dave Valentine, Onaje Allen Gumbs, Sherry Winston, Chuck Loeb, Cherryl Hayes and Gloria Lynn to name a few.David has traveled and performed in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China at some of the most prestigious venues and hotels. So, who is Liberty Jones? Liberty came to fruition during the early stages of the Americana movement. Originally a 4-piece, Liberty Jones kept one foot in the proverbial honky-tonk while trying to expand the appeal of their music (and their genre) to the commercial market. The result was a rough and rowdy sound dripping in a pop sheen that was often described as “Bakersfield Meets the Beatles.” As the band grew musically, they also grew personnel-wise. Roger Mathis, the original lead singer and bassist, moved to piano/guitar. Jeff Eno and Tim Maguire were brought in to take Mathis lead vox and bass duties respectively. Liberty also changed drummers by adding what would become the foundation of the band’s sound, John Pike. Liberty Jones signed to Gas House Records soon after the lineup change. The band recorded their first record (only sporadically released) for the unstable label, only to find the doors shuttered right after the release. Fortunately, Gas House gave Liberty the master tapes. So, in 2001, the boys took their dog and pony show over to Twin Horses. As soon as packaging was complete, another label closed the doors. Frustrated, the band shut down to pursue other projects for a while. Then, in 2004, in what seemed like an outtake from Spinal Tap, the band reformed to play a one-time charity show. The show was an overwhelming success with a packed house and a lot of cash for the charity, and that got the boys to thinking.
