(3 Customer Reviews)
With his second solo album for Warner Bros., Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante makes good on the promise of his previous outing, TO RECORD ONLY WATER FOR TEN DAYS. While that album succeeded in showing that Frusciante had shaken the drug-induced self-indulgence of his utterly bizarre first two discs, SHADOWS COLLIDE WITH PEOPLE provides further evidence of the once-troubled guitarist's remarkable rehabilitation.
Of course, there's still plenty of room for Frusciante's experimental weirdness, but that quality is kept in check by an excellent set of tunes. Keyboards and electronics ebb and flow throughout these songs, but Frusciante's voice and guitar are the focus here, aided by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer. Fellow Chili Pepper Chad Smith turns up on drums, while Flea contributes bass to the emotive closing track, "The Slaughter." Returning the favor of Frusciante's appearance on DE-LOUSED IN THE COMATORIUM, Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez performs on two songs. From the quirky, Cure-like pop of "Omission" to the gentle swoon of "Ricky," SHADOWS is filled with surprisingly catchy melodies and harmonies--an intriguing album by one of rock's undeniably unique talents.

John Frusciante Shadows Collide With People Songs Shadows Collide With People Music Shadows Collide With People Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Surreal Other than a few intrusive instrumentals, John Frusciante has recorded a brilliant album here. He can be ubeat, bleak, bittersweet and still maintain his ghostly undertones to create one of the best rock albums of 2004 so far. A must buy for John Frusciante fans, Red Hot Chili Pepper fans, and rock fans in general. Submitted by withrow1 (newmarket, ontario, canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
FRUSCIANTE LIVES and LOVES MUSIC. John Frusciante is probably one of the last true musicians left. He makes beautiful music to inspire and provoke emotions from within.
John is at his most honest on this album
To detail in words would not do this record justice. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THIS and be in touch with the spirit world and beyond. Thank you JOHN for all the music you've blessed us with Submitted by J.Wall (Shreveport, LA.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Take this journey This album is jf's most focused album to date. the songs have come a long way from his first two albums (Niandra... and Smile for the streets you hold). There aren't any other artists out there that make music like john, so it's hard to describe it. All i can say it's very emotional, beautiful music from an artist not afraid to bare his soul on record. Submitted by k.w. (illinois) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Shadows Collide With People album
$15.65 John Frusciante is the guitarist from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
With the opening kick of a simple but loud drum machine beat and multiple full-throttle guitar wails over the top, it quickly becomes apparent that John Frusciante has also given a swift kick to his heroin addiction. Hard drugs left the Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist derailed, deranged, and near death before an L.A. Weekly reporter detailed his frail state in a chilling story, moving some friends to help Frusciante check into a rehab center. He got off drugs and rejoined the ...

Shadows Collide With People songs
$10.15 Wacky popstars Men Without Hats made their name with "The Safety Dance," and this album from 1987 is a 13 track continuation of their sound.
Men Without Hats broke big with their 1982 debut, Rhythm of Youth. Though they never maintained that level of success, their third album Pop Goes the World was a smart, well-crafted, woefully underrated offering. The album chronicles the quest for and backlash of fame on songs like the title track, on which Ivan sings "Johnny and Jenny had a crazy dream/See their pictures in a magazine." Perhaps it was a way of dealing with the band's sudden success/failure, particularly on "Lose My Way" and "The Real World.." Thankfully, ...
