Includes nine bonus tracks. Yes: Jon Anderson (vocals, 10-string guitar); Steve Howe (acoustic & electric guitars, background vocals); Rick Wakeman (Hammond B-3 organ, Polymoog synthesizer; keyboards); Chris Squire (bass, background vocals); Alan White (vibraphone, drums, crotales, percussion, background vocals). Recorded at Advision Studios, London, England. Originally released on Atlantic (19202). The '70s model of Yes runs out of gas. Recorded in a morale slump and an impending haze of drink, Tormato's decent tunes are sabotaged by Rick Wakeman's increasing penchant for cheesy textures and the band's thin overall sound. "Don't Kill the Whale" was their last successful single for years; the soaring "Onward" almost but not quite redeems the twee silliness of "Arriving UFO" and "Circus of Heaven." Of special interest is the pounding "On the Silent Wings of Freedom," which pushes Chris Squire and Alan White to the front of the mix, establishing the kind of aggressive and straightforward rhythms that would propel the band through the '80s. Bass freaks, take note: this tune also marks one of the few appearances of the Dipthong pedal, accounting for Squire's distinctive "bow bow bow" sound. ~ Paul Collins Tormato's "Don't Kill the Whale" was their last successful single for years; the soaring "Onward" almost but not quite redeems the twee silliness of "Arriving UFO" and "Circus of Heaven." For reasons unknown, the album languished in bargain bins for years, despite being substantially less pretentious than some earlier work and much more "progressive" than Yes' later pop crossovers. On many tracks, there seems to be a concerted effort to cut back on the bombast. "Onward" is a simple, piano-based ballad, effectively rendered. "Future Times," "Don't Kill the Whale" and others find Steve Howe delivering some of his most visceral, biting guitar work, interacting nicely with Chris Squire's upper register bass lines. There's lots of carnival-like keyboard work and fanciful imagery (see the striking, harpsichord-driven "Madrigal" and the poignant "Circus of Heaven"), but hell, this is a Yes album. And it all works.

| Tormato Music Review Average Rating: (3.9 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Classic Yes I shouldn't need to say much about this album. If you liked Fragile and 90125 then you should also enjoy Tormato. The sound quality of this CD is quite good- it is certainly quite close to vinyl, but without the noise. Manufacturing defect on the 2004 remaster Track 17 and the hidden 18th track both have a mastering error that causes them to skip. This has been confirmed by several purchasers. Wait for Rhino to correct this before you buy. Then buy it from CDUniverse (the world's best place to buy music and movies!). Submitted by Dan (Long Island, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
You all are mad, mad I tell you!! This album is one of the best ones they put out. Yes, they all are exellant, but this one stands out , at least it does to me. Even most of the unreleased stuff is good. I just love the song " Some are Born"! Yes, its kind of unfinished, but heyif you dont like it, then you dont like "YES"! I think the best song on this is "Future Times/Rejoice", because there isn't anything in this world that sounds no where near like it. I'd definately buy this, you won't be dissapointed! one of my favorites I know my acquaintances who are Yes fans think I am off my nut, but I genuinely enjoy this album. Release, Release, Don't Kill the Whale, and other cuts are some of my favorites. My album, 8-track, and cassettes all wore out from use. Hoping the CD doesn't follow the same fate. Submitted by Kathy (Carbondale, IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$11.49 If Shaft was living in southern California and he invited Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix over for dinner, QWIKSAND from Orange County would make a groovy side-dish. QWIKSAND are no stranger to party's, especially when it comes to spreading positive vibes with their music. When guitarist Ras, wrote "Concrete Cowboy" about draining and skating a backyard pool while his neighbor was on vacation, little did the band know that in less than 2 years, QWIKSAND would be performing across the western region with hundreds of radio stations now behind them. Their unique and original sound described as "melodic surf funk" has continued to grow in popularity earning QWIKSAND the love, support and respect of fans across the US while gathering solid reviews, television appearances, upcoming movie soundtracks and light to heavy airplay in over 150 cities throughout the US, Canada and UK. The band was originally formed in 2003 and was named QWIKSAND to honor those who've drowned surfing a dangerous wave called the "Wedge" in Newport Beach California.QWIKSAND was chosen "One of the best independent artists in the Country" for 2006 by the Independent Artist Registry and the band is now in production filming for a reality based television project. Their debut single "Concrete Cowboy" recently jumped nationwide into Mainstream Commercial US Radio Charts hitting #11 on Hot AC Top40, #3 on Top30 Indie, #55 on the US Top100 and #8 on the Up & Coming Top40, and a brand new Music ...
| | Shedaisy Sweet Right Here CD (2004)
Tormato
$12.65 Live Recording
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. SHeDAISY: Kristyn Osborn, Kassidy Osborn, Kelsi Osborn. SHeDAISY's third official full-length is a product crafted finer than Waterford crystal. Like anything at the macro end of the gleaming Hat City sweatband, there's a heapin' helping of puffy filler. However, the harmonizing Osborn sisters have quite a bit of charm, and Sweet Right Here does showcase some fine songwriting from Kristyn. Led by the strong first single "Passenger Seat" (full of evocative lines like "Vinyl seat soft from the heat of the sun"), the album is a seamless mixture of themes and tempos familiar to the pop-country audience. Throughout, the sisters are a little bit of Dixie Chick sass, a lot of womanly Shania confidence ("360º of You" could be an outtake from Come On Over), and quite ...
