Ringo Starr began touring with his ever-changing All-Starr Band in 1989, and the concept has helped to revitalize not only the ex-Beatle's career but those of the famous players with which he surrounds himself, performing both Starr's hits and those of his bandmates. Initially, he worked with artists whose greatest fame came in the '60s and '70s. However, by 2003, '80s nostalgia was on the menu, and Colin Hay (Men at Work), Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike & the Mechanics), John Waite (The Babys, Bad English), and Shelia E. (Prince and solo) were on the stage.
It's no surprise that Starr's Beatles hits and solo smashes are delivered with the easy amiability that's endeared him to audiences since the '60s. More unexpected is the fact that lone guitarist Hay, who was merely the rhythm guitarist in Men at Work, is able to hold up his end on everything from the rockabilly of "Honey Don't" to Sheila E.'s punchy R&B/pop hits "Love Bizarre" and "The Glamorous Life." The glossy '80s pop of Waite's ubiquitous solo hit "Missing You" and Mike & the Mechanics' "The Living Years" both benefit from the stripped-down approach here, and the all-hands-on-deck closer "With a Little Help From My Friends" exemplifies the musical camaraderie that's at the heart of this venture.

the ringo 2003 tour cd is truely a collection of some of the most unique artists ever to have performed. the brilliant vocals of mr paul carrack just to mention one a must have for all genuine music lovers of pure entertainment

 Running On Empty
What do you do with something like this? I love Ringo and I've loved the All Star shows. But this? Instead of assembling great Classic Rock All Stars from the 60's and 70's Ringo instead surrounded himself with 80's synth popsters. This was a mistake. The energy on this tour was lacking compared to past tours and the CD reflects it. Ringo was in good humor and was doing his best, but he sounded tired and run down. The choices of All Stars was just not up to par except for Shiela E. Given Ringo's recent shoulder problems and the otherall lack of energy found on this CD I think the unfortunate time has come. It's time for Ringo to hang up the live shows, rest, and for his audience (including me) to say to him; thanks for the memories.

Let Him Rock Forever, Anyway He Wants To
To the last so-called reviewer, MooreD1. Who died and made you king of all reviewers, pal. You probably listen to rap-crap more than you should, so let the people who appreciate the great Ringo Starr do the reviews while you go to the nearest disco and rap all you want to. Ringo most likely has been around a lot longer than you. He's done very well with his all-starr bands. I've seen everyone of them and had an excellent time, hands down. I hope he's still knocking the bottom out of those drums 10 yrs. and more from now. Let'er rip, tater chip.
