Gathering material from Jordan films Beware (1946), Reet, Petite And Gone (1947) and Look Out Sister (1948), plus a selection of different "soundies" mainly shot for the black cinemas of America, this video offers a fascinating portrait of this true visionary of music, who's songs sound as irresistible today as they did over five decades ago. Having forged a singular style for himself by practically inventing the R&B genre, Louis Jordan subsequently produced some classic material that has gone down in the musical history books. This release includes a selection of early material culled from various films, including LOOK OUT SISTER and REET, PETITE AND GONE.

Barely surviving the ravages of time, The New York Dolls managed to reconvene for a spectacular comeback show in 2004. Original members David Johansen, Arthur "Killer" Kane, and Sylvain Sylvain were aided by a few auxiliary members for this show, although in true Dolls form the performance was laced with tragedy as Kane passed away shortly afterwards. Ex-Smiths singer Morrissey invited them to play at an event he was curating in London, and the surviving members decided to bite the bullet and take to the stage.
