Retrospective
$9.59 Pete and Maura Kennedy met at the Continental Club in Austin Texas. In the dark confines of this roots rock sanctuary, they hit it off immediately. Within twenty four hours, they had written their first song, "Day In and Day Out." Pete was playing lead guitar with Nanci Griffith, and he left town for a gig in Telluride, Colorado, a thousand miles northwest of Austin. After the show, they spoke on the phone and agreed to meet at the equidistant point: Lubbock, Texas. They each drove five hundred miles to celebrate their first date at Buddy Holly's grave, in the windy west Texan cotton town. There was more cause ...

| | Warren Zevon Stand In The Fire CD (1981) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Retrospective
$9.59 After the release of Warren Zevon's fourth album, Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School, he was clean and sober for the first time in years, and on-stage he was determined to make the most of his newfound strength and self-control. While his songs long had a dark and frantic undercurrent, Zevon was now capable of playing a no-holds-barred rock show where he could bring the sharper edges of his music to the forefront. Anyone who saw Zevon on what he called "The Dog Ate the Part We Didn't Like Tour" can attest to the fact he was in superb form, playing music that rocked hard while displaying intelligence, passion, and a sharply corrosive wit, and Stand in the Fire, recorded during a five-night stand ...

| | Paul Westerberg Stereo CDs (2002)
Retrospective
$13.39 Initial pressings of STEREO will include the album MONO by Grandpaboy. STEREO contains the hidden track, "Strike Down The Band," which occurs between "Don't Want Never" and "Mr. Rabbit." Personnel includes: Paul Westerberg, Elrod Puce, Zeke Pine, Henry Twiddle, Luther Covington. Paul Westerberg's best work has always been about passion as much as craft, and that's been the biggest sticking point with his post-Replacements solo career. From a strictly technical standpoint, his work on 14 Songs and Eventually was superior to the stuff he wrote for Hootenanny or Sorry, Ma, Forgot to Take out the Trash, but there was a heart, soul, and emotional intensity in his loud, fast, and sloppy rock & roll that was absent from the output of "Paul Westerberg, Professional Songwriter." To many fans, the trouble seemed to be that Westerberg just didn't feel like rocking out, but the lower-key Suicaine Gratifaction made clear that wasn't the only problem; while that album was a step in the right direction, much of it still sounded like Westerberg was writing to order, and the album's calm surface sounded just a bit forced. Dropped by his second major label and left to his own devices, Westerberg recorded Stereo in his basement, mostly in the middle of the night and with Westerberg providing all of the (minimal and mostly acoustic) musical accompaniment through the miracle of overdubbing. And for whatever reason, Stereo is the first Westerberg solo disc that captures the elusive feel and emotional resonance of his best Replacements tunes; no, it doesn't rock, but if ...
