This is a continuous in-the-mix CD, compiled and mixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a top ten hip-hop DJs of all time list that doesn't include DJ Jazzy Jeff. He might have been made famous with his crossover (meaning white moms and 12 year olds dig it) songs with the Fresh Prince, but anyone looking for action knew to skip the pop confectioneries and go directly to "Live at Union Square" to hear the sound of two fierce and hungry talents, one on the mic and one on the decks, tearing through cuts back when hip-hop was an uprising rather than lording prince of pop music. This first official mix by DJ Jazzy Jeff serves up almost two dozen select choices of early-'90s hip-hop from East Coast establishment Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, and Pete Rock, along with West Coast luminaries the Pharcyde and Cypress Hill, while younger craftsmen, including Jaylib and J-Live, keep things fresh. But beyond the sophisticated yet populist selections, the real excitement comes from Jeff's vintage and masterful scratching, which keeps things hype, while the actual tempo and volume stay deep in the pocket. With nothing left to prove, Jeff is left to do what he does best, moving heads and feet with two turntables and a stack of records. Let the DJ be the DJ. ~ Joshua GlazerRolling Stone (p.73) - 3 stars out of 5 - "[DJ Jazzy Jeff] spins a continuous mix of new, classic and rare tracks...adding enough scratching to their battle rhymes to make even a dermatologist itch." Hip Hop Forever, Vol. 2 album
$6.99 Diamond D had quietly provided some exciting production work and made strides within the rap music industry and community throughout the early '90s, but his name didn't become immediately recognizable until his classic guest appearance rapping on A Tribe Called Quest's "Show Business" ("Take it from Diamond/It's like mountain climbing/When it comes to rhyming/You gotta put your time in"), off their masterful second album, The Low End Theory. Even amid vintage verses by such lauded hip-hop company as Tribe's Q-Tip and Phife and Brand Nubian's Lord Jamar and Sadat X, ...

Hip Hop Forever, Vol. 2 music CDs
$5.99 Quick! How many piano-bass-drums acts can you think of that play pop-rock stuff?Come on....How many? What? Ben Folds? Billy Joel? Elton John? There's not too many, are there? That's EXACTLY why Pianocidal exists. The arena of piano rock music is woefully underexplored. When I did "Far Cry From Divine" in '99 I had an idea for a piano-dominant act. The resulting cd was the seed of my interpretation of piano rock. But the seed needed water..."Pianocidal Maniac" in 01 ...
