Best Of Mtume And Lucas album
$8.75 At this stage of her career Mariah Carey does not need to prove herself, but her voice is so powerful that with each new recording she, once again, reminds you: "Listen to what I can do." Vocal gymnastics and Christmas songs are not often thought of as a compatible combination, but on MERRY CHRISTMAS Mariah jumps, climbs, crawls, twirls and dashes her way through both traditional fare and original Christmas songs.
She shifts through styles, offering fans from all musical camps a gift of their own. Her "Silent Night" shows off a studied vocalization where liquid phrasing ...

| | Good Brother Earl Perfect Tragedy CD (2006)
Best Of Mtume And Lucas music CDs
$16.45 Perfect Tragedy is the follow up to Good Brother Earl’s critically acclaimed self-titled debut that is sure to have both fans and critics alike reeling. Formed in 2001 and based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the band has crafted their own unique sound that is both radio friendly and impressive live. What started as a group of friends getting together to jam around the University of Pittsburgh, has become a full time musical juggernaut. After adhering to the musical cliché by parting with not one but two drummers, the band has finally settled into what has become an extremely cohesive unit. One Pittsburgh journalist stated that “Good Brother Earl’s music is hard to describe: They’re given to hitting grooves and holding them like a jam band, but there’s a lot of rock and roll and a little bit of art school in the music… [It’s] good-time thinking-man’s rock.” This time around the band set out to write more concise songs, while improving on their already stellar sonic quality and expert musicianship. The result is 11 songs that tackle love, loneliness, addiction, and even at times social commentary. The group’s subtle shift toward the more mainstream rock genre can be heard immediately in the opening song “Fighting Gravity” a three and half minute opus with an infectious electric guitar hook. The album then takes off through the catchy “Anna” and the toe tapper “Shell”, which has already become a fan favorite. Toward the end of the recording process, the group realized they had something special, so they decided to finish it off right, by taking it to legendary Sterling Sound in New York City for mastering. The album was mastered by Ryan Smith, assistant to the iconic Ted Jensen, who has mastered everything from Bob Marley to Green Day. From start to finish, Perfect Tragedy will leave the listener wanting more. In 2003, out of 1600 bands, ...

| | Joe Walsh Barnstorm CD (1972)
Best Of Mtume And Lucas album
$12.35 All songs by Joe Walsh except "Giant Behemoth" (J. Vitale), "I'll Tell The World" (A. Gordon/A. Jacobs), "Turn To Stone" (J. Walsh/Terry Trebandt), "Mother Says" (Walsh/Vitale/Passarelli).
Barnstorm, Joe Walsh's first solo album after leaving the James Gang, garnered him fame not only as a guitarist but also as a songwriter. While it's true that Walsh established himself as a late-'60s/early-'70s guitar hero on the Gang's more boogie-oriented rock numbers, it's Walsh's love of lushly textured production and spacy, open-ended songs featuring both acoustic and electric guitars that is showcased here on this wildly adventurous and forgotten unqualified masterpiece. Recorded at the Caribou Ranch in Nederland, CO, Barnstorm reflects the big sky and wide open spaces. Accompanied by bassist Kenny Passarelli and drummer Joe Vitale, Walsh freely indulges himself with fat guitars and keyboards, beautiful choruses, country tinges, and pastoral pop hooks, as evidenced by the glorious opener, "Here We Go." This segues, via the sound of a spooky lonesome wind, into the hauntingly beautiful psychedelic country tune "Midnight Visitor," with elegantly woven acoustic guitars, fat carnival organ sounds, and -- of course -- the sound of the wind before it slips out the back door. And so it goes with the nearly Baroque psychedelic suite of "One and One," which slides seamlessly into "Giant Bohemoth" (sic) and the rollicking "Mother ...
