Includes liner notes by Kristopher Spencer. This 16-track compilation covers Senegalese singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Youssou N'Dour's Columbia Records period, from 1991 to 1996. Perhaps the most popular pop culture figure in Senegal's history, N'Dour created a music of his own from various sources, which he called "mbalax" and which incorporates everything from jazz, soul, hard R&B styles, hip-hop, and even Cuban samba, and juxtaposes them with the folk melodies and polyrhythms of his native land. The cuts here, particularly "Old Man," "New Africa," "Yo le Le, (Fulani Rhythm)," and the covers of Smokey Robinson's "Don't Look Back," and Lennon and McCartney's "Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da," reveal N'Dour's idiosyncratic, yet very accessible grasp and integration of Western and African pop styles. ~ Thom Jurek 7 Seconds: The Best Of Youssou N'Dour Music | List Price | $7.99 (You save $0.40) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs, World, International, Pop, African, Senegalese, Greatest Hits Collections, Afro-Pop | | Label | Legacy | | Orig Year | 2004 | | All Time Sales Rank | 30551 | | CD Universe Part number | 6675242 | | Catalog number | 86073 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Mar 02, 2004 | | Studio/Live | Mixed | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Personnel | Branford Marsalis - saxophone Youssou N'Dour Kevin Armstrong Glenn Ferris - trombone Brad Wheeler Jerry Wonder Habib Faye - keyboards, bass Ibrahima Cisse Jimi Mbaye - guitar Pape Oumar Ngom

7 Seconds: The Best Of Youssou N'Dour
$27.95 24-bit remastered reissue of the southern rock unit's seventh album, originally released in 1982 & produced by Gary Lyons, features 13 tracks including 4 bonus tracks (Radio Mixes), 'Rebel Girl', 'Don't Stop', 'Running', & 'Goodbye', taken from French EPs. Digipak. Magic Records. 2004.
The Outlaws' LOS HOMBRES MALO contains the songs "Don't Stop," "Running," and "All Roads," among others. CD contains 4 bonus tracks. Unfortunately, the popularity of Southern rock was starting to fade by the early 1980s, the success of 38 Special being a rare exception. The Outlaws released Los Hombres Malo (Spanish for "The Bad Men") in 1982, and it was the Florida band's last studio album for Arista. By this time, the band had been whittled down to a quartet, so it lost its classic three-guitar attack. Vocalist/guitarist Hughie Thomasson, vocalist/guitarist Freddie ...
