Starring Wolfgang Preiss, Liana Orfei, Pierre Price
Director Giorgio Ferroni
A nightmare-inducing vision of hell. A young artist is hired to do a study of a famous local landmark, a windmill that contains stone statues of notorious female monsters of the past. One day he meets a mysterious, dangerously beautiful woman at the mill. Before long, he is drawn into her clutches. Just what is the terrible secret that keeps her hiding from the world? English & French with English subtitles.

A young artists is commissioned to do a study of a windmill which is surrounded by a frightening collection of statues of notorious women. Little does he know that a the mill is inhabited by a madman who needs the blood of women to keep his daughter alive. This overlooked piece of Italian gothic horror (which was filmed in Holland) creates a mood comparable to early 1960's Hammer Films or the works of Mario Bava.

This is the only Pierre Price video.

4 stars A Little Jewel Of European Cinema
I saw this movie many years ago on vhs, now in dvd it looks great, great direction by Giorgio Ferroni and superb cinematography. One of the great and lesser know jewels of the European Horror. If you are fan of Mario Bava, Ricardo Fredda or Antonio Margeritthy, This movie is absolutely delightfull!!!

5 stars Required midnight viewing
Haunting, hallucinatory, highly theatrical and filled with gorgeous and grotesque imagery, perfectly accompanied by an eerie soundtrack, this artful 1960 French-Italian 'House of Wax'-style shocker at last appears in its full cinematic glory as another masterpiece from Mondo Macabro. This is unquestionably the ultimate version of the film; the disc also features a trailer reel, an interesting alternative opening sequence and an exemplary stills and poster gallery.

4 stars Horror classic
This excellent remastering permit us to enjoy one of the best films of the genre ,which was one of Italy's specialties in the late 50's and early 60's,thanks to directors like Ferroni,Bava,Freda, etc. It stars a young and beautiful Scilla Gabel in one of her first leading roles,a perfect Pierre Brice,a sombre, yet very sharp Wolfgang Preiss. The film had that very elusive quality that modern cinema, with its spectacular digital artifacts has completely lost:atmoshere. And that's the primary virtue in any motion picture, especially so for this particular style. The lack of blatant horrific scenes and coup-de-scénes,make it a really shivering and goose-pimples adventure. Highly recommended for every movie buff.
