After her stint with Transglobal Underground and three ground-breaking solo albums of dynamic Arabian-inflected dance music and chansons, our favourite diva Natacha Atlas invites us on a journey of spiritual discovery. Despite the usual overall "Oriental" feel of the CD, 'Foretold in the Language of Dreams' includes collaborations with a string of exciting musicians with whom she has never worked previously - Andrew Cronshaw on zither (apparently in himself a source of inspiration to Atlas), Syrian qanun player Abdullah Chhadeh, and most satisfyingly, two tracks with the Greek band Avaton. Despite the liner notes claims of "computer malarkey" being employed, the overall sound is acoustic, a stark contrast to her previous work. Mantra. | | Roy Orbison 50 All-Time Greatest Hits CDs (2002)
Foretold In The Language Of Dreams CD music
$18.49 Perhaps Collectables Records should not get their hopes up on receiving "Truth in Advertising" awards for this two-disc Roy Orbison collection; a handy double set which compiled Orbison's classic Monument sides along with highlights from his releases for Sun, M-G-M, and Virgin would be a more than welcome addition to his catalog, but despite the title that's not what 50 All Time Greatest Hits has on board. This set features a whopping 47 tunes from Orbison's Monument years, with his three best known Sun sides ("Ooby Dooby," "Rock House," and "Go! Go! Go!") closing out disc two. All of Roy's classic '60s hits can be found on disc one, while a healthy selection of covers and lesser-knowns dominate the second half; it's all splendid material, even if the sequencing seems just a bit clunky in spots, and the mastering is more than adequate (though some of this material has sounded cleaner on previous CD releases). In short, as an overview of Orbison's most ...
| | Simple Plan Still Not Getting Any CD (2004) DualDisc
Foretold In The Language Of Dreams music CDs
$16.05 This is a Dualdisc, which is a CD with music on one side and a DVD of rare video footage on the flipside.
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
On its sophomore disc, Canadian combo Simple Plan once again delivers a hard-charging mix of pop and punk in the vein of Blink 182 and Good Charlotte. Several tracks on STILL NOT GETTING ANY?, however, find the band expanding its sound to incorporate a more pronounced mainstream rock influence. "Me Against the World" is driven by an energetic rhythm section and burly guitars ...
| | Michael Jackson Ultimate Collection CDs (2004) With DVD; Box Set; Special Edition
Foretold In The Language Of Dreams songs
$49.35 While there have been many previous Jackson hits collections, the four-CD/one-DVD ULTIMATE COLLECTION is just that--it represents Jackson's whole career, from his youthful days with the Jackson 5 to the early years of the 21st century. (The rare omissions--"Human Nature," "Heal the World"--show up live on the DVD.) Mixed in with his numerous hits are previously unreleased songs, demo versions of hits, album tracks, and odds and ends, most remarkably, one of the earliest versions of "We Are the World" with almost completely different lyrics. THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION expertly chronicles the career of one of the most important, if unusual, pop artists of all time.
By 2004, Michael Jackson's bizarre image almost completely obscured the talent that had made him an international superstar. However, he became a musical icon ...
| | Bright Eyes Digital Ash In A Digital Urn CD (2005)
Foretold In The Language Of Dreams album
$9.22 Precocious indie wunderkind Conor Oberst (AKA Bright Eyes) released two full-length albums--I'M WIDE AWAKE, IT'S MORNING and DIGITAL ASH IN A DIGITAL URN--in early 2005, and the latter proved to be a stylistic curveball that veered sharply away from his emo-folk sound and into synth-heavy electronic music. The results sometimes recall a more pop-savvy version of Oberst's Saddle Creek labelmates the Faint, particularly on the gloomy "Down in a Rabbit Hole" and the New Wave-inspired single "Take It Easy (Love Nothing)."
By 2005, Nebraska native Oberst had made New York City his second home, and the urban influence ...
| | Natacha Atlas Mish Maoul CD (2006)
Foretold In The Language Of Dreams CD music
$13.89 Even when paying homage to the Moroccan music she grew up with, vocalist Natacha Atlas can't help but let the multicultural and modern seep in. With bossa nova, Western pop, and just a thin slice of electronica figuring into the mix, the "back to my roots" album Mish Maoul is a rich collection of music that doesn't sound decorated but natural coming from an artist who prides herself in being a musical nomad. Easy to believe a nomad's memories of her homeland would be foggy and sentimental, and easy to believe the modern nomad's soundtrack would sound something like this -- only something like this because this is far and away Atlas' most personal album. Suitably, she seems totally in charge ...
