Personnel: Madonna (vocals). Love Profusion Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A bit too much Club for my taste.... Unfortunatly the remixes on this single are all club mixes and that's not my main taste. The mixes are good but nothing really special, this gentle song is lost in the beats here..... So much Confusion To coinside with the launch of her recent Estee Lauder campaign internationally using "Love Profusion", Madonna releases the single in the USA, backed with the usual load of remixes, this time mainly done by Ralphi Rossario. The result is again similar to that of the previous "American Life" single, "Nothing Fails"- very tiring but it is worth it if you're a fan or even for one or two remixes. In it you'll also find a fragrance sample of the above mentioned brand's new perfume.

Hot New Remixes For The U.S.A. Madonna's "Love Profusion" has been available as import cd singles (parts 1 & 2) for several months, but is finally released domestically for the first time. The remixes are excellent, especially the "Passengerz Club Mix" and the "Ralphi Rosario House House Vocal Mix", both of which were cut short on the import cd singles by several minutes due to England's strict 20 minute maximum time length for cd singles, and are now in their full length versions. New remixes (as well as the above mentioned remixes) include "Craig J's Good Vibe Mix" and another by Ralphi Rasario (The Ralphi Rosario Big Room Vox Mix" and "Dub" as well as the "Blow Up Mix". As a bonus you get "Peter's Lost In Space Mix" of Madonna's hit "Nothing Fails". Seven tracks at over fifty minutes of playing time, this cd single is worth every cent of your hard earned cash. $7.49 AMERICAN LIFE Limited Edition includes a 2 sided 23" x 35" poster and postage size Madonna stamp sheet.
Re-teaming with French electro-pop producer Mirwais, (who also lent his talents to 2000's MUSIC), Madonna uses her perspective as a globally famous ex-pat living in England to comment on the USA's spiritual state throughout AMERICAN LIFE. Prominently featuring plenty of acoustic guitar among the synth-soaked swooshes and Euro-disco beats, the Material Girl ends up going for a more stripped-down sound. This technique works particularly well on the opening title cut, which finds Ms. Ciccone rapping about bodyguards, soy lattes, gardeners and other upper-class perks that don't seem to make the spiritual side of life any better.
"Hollywood" does an even better job addressing the downside of fame while pumping in a few more hooks. Faith in family fuels the lush "Nothing Fails," with its unexpected gospel-chorus outro, while amore inspires the light and tight "Love Profusion," and insecurity plagues the solo-acoustic "X-Static Process." Of course all these songs of self-discovery and spirituality didn't stop Madonna from including "Die Another Day," the Euro-techno title song from the James Bond film of the same name.
12 inch taken from her 2003 album American Life. Includes 5 versions of 'American Life' (Missy Elliott American Dream Remix, Oakenfold Downtempo Remix, Peter Rauhofer's American Anthem Part 1 & Part 2 & Felix Da Housecat's Devin Dazzle Club Mix) plus 'Die Another Day' (Richard Humpty Vission Electrofried Mix). $6.35 "Genie In A Bottle" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
"What A Girl Wants" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Christina Aguilera rocketed to the top of the charts with the smash hit "Genie in a Bottle" from this self-titled debut and placed herself among a leading generation of young, multi-talented pop artists. Like fellow performers Britney Spears, J.C. and Justin of 'N Sync, and actress Keri Russell, who stars in the TV show Felicity, Aguilera is a graduate of the New Mickey Mouse Club television program.
Songs such as "What a Girl Wants" with its guitar-driven melody, and the soulful gospel strain of "So Emotional" show Christina Aguilera's polish. Some of the other tracks that stand out are the powerful "I Turn to You," which was written by Diane Warren; "Reflection," which was produced by Matthew Wilder; and the dance floor mover "Love Will Find a Way," from hit makers Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers.
Always one for a remix, Madonna follows the AMERICAN LIFE album with an EP that includes alternate mixes of four album tracks. "Nothing Fails (Nevins Mix)" glides along on an acoustic guitar line and skittering, distorted beats, while 1980s revisionists Mount Sims take on "Nobody Knows Me" with a dirty keyboard/vocoder barrage. Finally the Headcleanr rock mixes of "Love Profusion" and "American Life" are energetic, guitar-heavy versions of the originals.
Also included on REMIXED & REVISITED is a live recording of the Material Girl's show-stopping 2003 MTV Video Music Awards performance of her "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood" medley, featuring the additional diva trinity of Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Missy Elliott. On "Into the Hollywood Groove," Missy pops by again for a studio fusion of Madonna's "Into the Groove" and the aforementioned "Hollywood." ...

| | Built To Spill/Caustic Resin (1996)
Love Profusion music CDs
$8.99 For those who were not yet convinced of Doug Martsch's status as an indie-rock guitar god, this collaboration between his Built To Spill and Boise, Idaho's Caustic Resin--which is stocked with former Built To Spillers--is overwhelming proof. The sound of virile jamming coming from a scene that prides itself on compactness of song may prove disarming at first, but the ferocious post-Sonic Youth interplay between Martsch and Brett Netson is too overwhelming not to strike a sympathetic chord with the listener. It also helps that the song-vehicles for this raucousness aren't the serious type. "When Not Being Stupid Is Not Enough" and "Shit Brown Eyes" take themselves as lightly as their titles imply (few lyrics, all bruising guitars), while the reconstruction of Kicking Giant's "She's Real" proves that even when they're goofing, the Boise contingent has great taste in pop material.
Built to Spill/Caustic Resin sees the two title bands working together to perform four songs; the first two songs are penned by Built to Spill, the third is penned by Caustic Resin, and the final track is a cover of a Kicking Giant's "She's Real." "When Not Being Stupid Is Not Enough" is an incredible nine-minute ride, filled to the emotional breaking point with classic Doug Martsch guitar dynamics, his confident vocals, and angry lyrics. The song would seem completely at home on the band's album Perfect From Now On, as it's as subtle and finely crafted as it is noisy and monumental. It is, without a doubt, a must-listen for fans. "One Thing" is one of the angrier songs in Built to Spill's arsenal; it doesn't really go anywhere, and it might best be described as a more bitter version of the band's There's Nothing Wrong With Love-era pop sound. "Shit Brown Eyes" is more psychedelic than the other songs on the EP. What it lacks in cohesion, it makes up in virtuoso guitar attacks. Martsch's trademark guitar squalls make it worth a listen, but Brett Netson's vocals are no match for Martsch's. "She's Real" is interesting and epic, suggesting a shimmering '50s rock song gone indie, amid bunches of angst and a somewhat painful harmony. The extended jam midsong gets a bit tedious, foreshadowing the Neil Young cover that was to come on Built to Spill's Live album. "When Not Being Stupid Is Not Enough" is the real reason the EP deserves attention. It surpasses the remaining tracks by a long shot. If new editions of Built to Spill's Perfect From Now On or Keep It Like a Secret albums are ever issued, the song would be a most welcome extra track on either. Until such time, Built to Spill Caustic Resin is essential listening. ~ Tim DiGravina
