Standard Screen; Soundtrack English A justice of the peace performs five marriages before his license officially starts, and five years later realizes his mistake--that the five couples have never been legally married. When the couples find out, each reacts in a different hilarious way, from the couple who married for business but actually hate each other, to Mrs. Mississippi, who can now try out to be Miss Mississippi, and three other pairs. The film is an early vehicle for Marilyn Monroe, and features star turns by Ginger Rogers and Fred Allen. In WE'RE NOT MARRIED, five couples find out that they are not legally married and react in all sorts of different ways (most are pretty overjoyed) in this anthology of comic vignettes. Marilyn Monroe plays a beauty queen whose husband--stuck at home with the baby--sees this turn of events as perfect leverage; Fred Allen and Ginger Rogers are co-hosts of a radio show, whose marriage is purely for ratings; Zsa Zsa Gabor is a ruthless gold-digger trying to get her millionare husband's money; Eve Arden and Paul Douglas are bored but contented ex-New Yorkers; and Eddie Bracken is a soldier who goes AWOL to remarry pregnant Mitzi Gaynor so his kid won't grow up a "you know what." Lee Marvin makes a brief appearance as Bracken's army buddy. Victor Moore is the dottering old judge who mistakenly married the couples without authorization. The various stories all have a happy ending of one sort or another, and the sanctity of marriage survives intact, despite the good-natured ribbing it receives at the hands of director Edmund Goulding (GRAND HOTEL) and producer-writer Nunnally Johnson.
Theatrical release: July 11, 1952.
The film was remade as IN NAME ONLY in 1969.

$9.24 The sequel to the racing smash THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS may not have Vin Diesel as its star, but it burns with even higher octane than its predecessor, and a whole lot less extraneous drama. Back in action is undercover cop Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) whose career has hit the skids since he let Diesel's character escape at the last film's end. He has sunk in status and is now a fringe dweller on the Miami street racing scene. A chance at redemption arrives when the fuzz recruits him to investigate Carter Vellone (Cole Hauser), a top-dog street racer with dangerous drug connections. O'Connor recruits his bickering childhood pal (model/singer ...

$24.19 ONE FINE DAY: George Clooney plays a rakish, irresponsible, and sexy single dad and Michelle Pfeiffer is a neurotic, standoffish, and sexy single mom in this likeable, fast-paced romantic comedy. Melanie Parker is an architect and a perfectionist workaholic who has no time for a social life. Unfortunately, things spin out of her control on the day of the biggest presentation of her career, when her son Sammy shows up late to school, misses the class field trip, and so is left in Melanie's care for the day. Jack Taylor, a feckless newspaper reporter, finds himself in much the same situation when his newly married ex-wife leaves their daughter Maggie with him for a week, requiring a level of responsibility he is unprepared for. He and Melanie meet in front of the school and sparks--of the ill-tempered kind--fly, as each projects onto the other the faults of their exes. Eventually, however, as they race to save their jobs while keeping their kids intact, their true feelings for one another emerge. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for the best original song ("For the First Time").
SOLARIS: Steven Soderbergh (OCEAN'S ELEVEN, TRAFFIC) delivers yet another inspired remake with this pensive sci-fi drama based on the book by Stanislaw Lem. Taking his cue from Russian master Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 epic of the same name, Soderbergh boldly chooses atmosphere over action, crafting a profoundly meditative work that will challenge audiences for many years to come. George Clooney plays Chris Kelvin, a therapist who is sent to a space station near the planet of Solaris in order to investigate a series of mysterious happenings. When he arrives, he finds only two surviving crew members, hyper-strange Snow (Jeremy Davies) and ultra-paranoid Gordon (Viola Davis). Unable to make sense of their fear and confusion, Chris soon discovers the reason for their anxiety. In a seemingly implausible turn of events caused by Solaris's bizarre energy levels, Chris's deceased wife Rhea (Natascha McElhone) reappears. Fully aware that Rhea is only a figment of his memory, Chris is nonetheless unable to dismiss her due to the tragic events surrounding her death. He must somehow find a way to bid farewell to Rhea once and for all without collapsing under the weight of his own guilty conscience. Soderbergh's dream of a motion picture successfully balances philosophy with romance, telling a familiar tale of love and loss in a strikingly original way.
THIN RED LINE: Terrence Malick returns to Hollywood after a two-decade hiatus with this adaptation of the classic WWII novel by James Jones. The story follows the efforts of an army platoon to capture the Japanese-controlled island of Guadalcanal in the Pacific Ocean, which will have a major effect on the outcome of the war. The members of C-for-Charlie Company are ...

We're Not Married film
$13.45 When Adam (Craig Chester, also the film's writer and director) and Steve (Malcolm Gets of TV's CAROLINE IN THE CITY) first meet in the 1980s, Adam is a full-fledged Goth, all eyeliner and morbid posturing, while Steve is a sparkle-covered disco queen. Even so, the two are magnetically drawn to each other, and Steve offers Adam his very first dose of cocaine. Cut to seventeen years later. Adam, now a recovered cocaine addict, finds himself in an emergency room with his beloved pet dog, whom he has accidentally stabbed. As fate (and movie logic) would have it, Steve is the doctor assigned to treat him. Though they don't initially remember one another, the magnetic pull has remained, and the two find themselves building a relationship. Meanwhile, Adam's best friend Rhonda (the always delightful indie queen Parker Posey), dumpy and obese in high school, who has transformed herself into a stylish and thin stand-up comic, begins ...
