Phantom Agony album for sale Product Description
Phantom Agony album for sale by Epica was released Aug 16, 2005 on the The End label. Dutch guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen unveiled his highly anticipated post-After Forever undertaking -- a new orchestral metal project named Epica -- via 2004's The Phantom Agony album. Phantom Agony CD music Clearly patterned on Jansen's former band, Epica fuses his deathly croaking with the angelic tones of a classically trained mezzo-soprano named Simone Simons, over a lush foundation of symphonic power metal. However, as compared to After Forever's pre-established blueprint (and unfortunately, continual comparisons are inevitable here) songs like "Sensorium," "Cry for the Moon," and "Illusive Consensus" tend to prioritize guitars over keyboards, while making greater use of full-on choir backdrops. Phantom Agony CD music contains a single disc with 10 songs. ...See Full Description

Well, maybe it didnt deserve 2 stars Before, I gave this album 2 stars, but I had only listened to it once or twice. After listening to it a couple of more times, some songs started growing on me. Namely, tracks 2, 4, 5 & 6. "Sensorium" has a very catchy and unique intro. This is a song that I thought was ok from the beginning, but which now I find great. "Feint" is a very relaxing a slow track. I liked it from the beginning. Still do. "Illusive Consensus" has a very gothy sounding intro. Simone's voice definetly stands out here. A very nice piece. Lastly, "Façade of Reality". The best song in the album. It is a memorial for the 9/11 attack. Awesome and memorable track. Although, I still do not like some of the songs like "Adyta" or "Run For A Fall". So, in all the album still isn't as good as Consign to Oblivion. Still, I feel guilty for giving it 2 stars. This album deserves 4 stars. So I'm giving it a 5 to kinda make up for it. By walter (Rabat)
Pure Magic This album was wonderfully contradictory. It was aggressive, harsh, and exciting, while at the same time graceful, beautiful, and peaceful. The vocals, instrumentals, and songwriting are all top-notch. This one is highly recommended. By Duncan (Texas)
Awesome. More needed. Awesome album. An excellent blend of classical, opera, grunts, and rock. Too bad my CD case was cracked during shipping. At least the CD is functional. You get what you pay for, eh? By dancroteau2003 (Canada)
Very weak, doesn't even compare to Consign to Oblivion I don't know what's all the fuss on this album. None of the songs are great. Simone's vocals were still quite weak here, so was the music. The only songs which are 'ok' are Sensorium, Cry For The Moon and Feint. By ok, I don't mean great, they're just acceptable. Although I'm starting to like Feint more and more as I listen to it. However, I still like every single song on Consign To Oblivion better than these. Even Trios Vierges is superior to this (which is my least favorite song on CtO) 3/10 By walteraquilina (Malta)
A Near Perfect Debute A great album, similar to After Forever's earlier work but not the same. The only negative I can find is the speach clips in the songs about terrorism/911 as they seem to be out of place. By JPingel (British Columbia, Canada)
