2004 digitally remastered, deluxe reissue of the 1998 album. This CD has the bonus track "An Gleann" (Cantoma Mix) and a 12-page booklet with new liner notes and rare photos.
LANDMARKS finds Clannad continuing to merge the rich musical tradition of Ireland with lush orchestrations and modern instrumentation. Synthesizers and electric guitars provide an unusual but engaging backdrop to the airy, reverb-soaked vocals of Maire Brennan and the rich assortment of acoustic sounds. The tender Irish language song "Fado" starts with a sparse acoustic arrangement and expands gradually, adding percussion, flute, and Brennan's distinctive double-tracked harmonies, without ever losing its ominous groove. "Of This Land" uses ethereal elements, both sonic and lyrical, to set its exotic, plaintive tone, while the instrumentals "The Golden Ball" and "Loch Na Cailli" are astoundingly varied sonic journeys, truly showcasing the masterful musical chemistry of Clannad.
Deluxe edition, digitally remastered from the original tapes, reissue of 1998 album features 11 tracks including 1 bonus chill-out remix track, 'An Gleann' (Cantoma Mix). Includes 12-page booklet with new sleeve notes & rare photos. BMG. 2004.
LANDMARKS won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best New Age Album.
Recorded at Ballybetagh Wood, Dublin, Ireland.
The meeting was inevitable: Celtic music's mystical nature, with all its druids and runes, made it a natural draw for practitioners of New Age, with their crystals and dream catchers. Armed with a solid upbringing in traditional Irish music and a mastery of contemporary pop and New Age styles, Clannad has spent decades mixing the music of their own past with sounds from throughout the globe, using modern touches to hold it all together.
Clannad: Ciaran Brennan (vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, piano, keyboards, bass); Noel Duggan (vocals, acoustic guitar); Maire Brennan (vocals, harp keyboards); Padraig Duggan (mandolin).
Additional personnel: Anto Drennan (acoustic, electric, slide & Spanish guitars); Ian Melrose (acoustic & electric guitars, low whistle); John McSherry (Uillean pipes, low whistle); David Downes (Uillean pipes); Vinnie Kilduff (whistle); Mel Collins (saxophone); Ian Parker (piano, keyboards); Paul Moban (drums, percussion); Deirdre Brennan (bodhran).

Landmarks album
$6.19 The '60s Blues Revival begins here. Calling this album influential is an understatement akin to calling the Grand Canyon a rut; suffice to say that an entire generation of musicians (mostly young and white) heard this and had their lives changed forever. In fact, for at least a year after the album's release in 1965, it was impossible to walk down ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Landmarks CD music
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone ...
| | Drive-By Truckers Southern Rock Opera CDs (2001) Digipak
Landmarks music CDs
$11.99 A sprawling two-disc set, the Drive-By Truckers' SOUTHERN ROCK OPERA is a cracked masterpiece that's enjoyable on several different levels. Hipsters might enjoy the giggly premise of a two-disc set devoted to a slightly altered retelling of the rise and fall of 1970s Southern rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd. Progressive rock fans lamenting the modern era's relative lack of story-driven albums divided into "Act I" and "Act II" will latch onto SOUTHERN ROCK ...
| | Marshall Tucker Band Where We All Belong CD (1974) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Landmarks songs
$10.69 Originally released on Capricorn Records (0145). Includes liner notes by Barry Alfonso.
Although it runs a little long, Where We All Belong captures the sound of The Marshall Tucker Band coming into its own. Half the tracks are new studio recordings, which are more focused than their previous releases; the other half is a harder-edged, jam-oriented live set. Taken together, they show that the band was progressing musically. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)

$8.49 Early on, critics often described Dredg as a metal group. However, the quartet has since matured into a hard-edged indie-rock ensemble that seeks diversity and refinement in its music. On CATCH WITHOUT ARMS, the band favors highly orchestrated ...
