Screenwriter Larry Gelbart
Antonio Banderas delivers a powerful, larger-than-life performance as the title character of this incredible true story of how Mexican Revolutionary, Pancho Villa, allowed a Hollywood crew to film him in battle, altering the course of film and military history in the process. The film changes the public opinion in Villa's favor and proves that "the lens is mightier than the sword." Director: Bruce Beresford; actors : Alan Arkin, Antonio Banderas, Eion Bailey, Jim Broadbent.

Starring Antonio Banderas as the legendary Pancho Villa, Bruce Beresford's star-studded HBO production brings to life a truly surreal story. In the early 1900s, Villa, the enthusiastic Mexican revolutionary, was looking for a way to support his cause. Enter master filmmaker D.W. Griffith (Colm Feore), who was trying to take cinema to a whole new level. The resulting partnership resulted in the film THE LIFE OF GENERAL VILLA, a picture that bravely blurred the line between fiction and reality. In the process, Villa became a cultural sensation, giving both men the acclaim that they desperately seeked. Written by Larry Gelbart, AND STARRING PANCHO VILLA AS HIMSELF is another finely crafted HBO production.

Directed by Sam Mendes and based on the graphic novel by Max Allan Collins and Richard Piers Rayner, the Depression-era crime epic ROAD TO PERDITION stars Tom Hanks as Michael Sullivan, a quiet hit man who is duty bound to Mafia boss John Rooney (Paul Newman). The mobster's close bond with Sullivan, however, leads Rooney's jealous blood son, Connor (Daniel Craig), to orchestrate a tragic series of events that results in Sullivan on the run with his 12-year-old son, Michael Jr. (Tyler Hoechlin). Soon an unscrupulous crime photographer/assassin named Maguire (Jude Law) is sent after Sullivan and his son, and Sullivan must decide on a course of action as young Michael comes to terms with his father's violent way of life. Meticulously directed by Mendes and brilliantly photographed by Conrad Hall, each scene of ROAD TO PERDITION ...

THE CRIMSON RIVERS: Jean Reno reprises his role as a laconic tough cop in Mathieu Kassovitz's disturbing thriller, THE CRIMSON RIVERS. Kassovitz, who rose to fame with his compelling racial drama HATE, brings his signature flare for character development and subtle direction to this unlikely alpine murder mystery. A horrifically mutilated corpse found in a remote mountain village signifies a serious enough crime to call in Parisian detective Pierre Niemans (Jean Reno). Meanwhile, less than 200 miles away, the young upstart detective Kerkerian (HATE's Vincent Cassel) investigates a similarly bizarre crime, the defacement of a young girl's grave. As the two intrepid detectives pursue their cases--Niemans examining bizarre circumstances at a local university and Kerkerian interviewing the dead girl's recalcitrant mother (now a cloistered nun)--the two investigations pitch violently towards each other, forcing the detectives to join forces as they recognize the horrifying implications that may link the seemingly isolated crimes. The precarious mountain locale acts as a fittingly terse setting for ...

Stephen Gaghan, who won an Oscar for best screenplay for TRAFFIC, makes his directorial debut with SYRIANA, an espionage thriller set in the Middle East. George Clooney stars as Bob Barnes, a longtime CIA agent preparing to slow down his life and spend more time with his teenage son (Max Minghella). But his last secret mission, getting rid of Prince Nasir (Alexander Siddig), turns out to be more complicated than he imagined, placing him in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy involving government corruption, oil, and international terrorism. Matt Damon, who starred with Clooney in OCEAN'S ELEVEN and OCEAN'S TWELVE (and made a cameo in Clooney's CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND, which was also about spies and conspiracies), plays Bryan Woodman, an energy executive whose ethics become vulnerable after the horrific loss ...
