The geeks and popular kids square off at Kennedy High School in this teen series. Includes stars Leslie Bibb, Carly Pope. DVD special features include commentaries, outtakes, a featurette "Where are They Now?." The hilarious high school comedy POPULAR is sarcastic, self-conscious, and in on its own joke, just like the teens whose mundane and exquisite drama the series captures. Centering around the lives of stepsisters Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb) and Sam McPherson (Carly Pope), Popular finds a great deal of humor in the warring cliques of teen girls--and provides sly social commentary in the process. Blonde, wealthy, and sophisticated beyond her years Brooke heads up her high school's in-crowd, along with the vicious and also blonde Nicole (Tammy Lynn Michaels) and Mary Cherry (Leslie Grossman). The brunette Sam, though equally stunning, finds herself an outcast, along with hyper-activist Lily (Tamara Mello), geeky Harrison (Christopher Gorham), and the voluptuous Carmen (Sara Rue).
As it dissects the perennial divide between the popular kids and everyone else, POPULAR comments on the inanity of cliques, with Brooke and Sam eventually growing close as sisters, but refusing to cross enemy lines at school. It also provides insight into the state of contemporary teenage angst, with teachers who literally attack their students, complicated family relationships in which kids play as large a part in the emotional dynamics as do their parents, and a chaotic social system where kids desperate to figure out their identity must fight the labels placed on them by their peers. This 6-volume box set includes the complete first season of the series. Popular - Season 1 Reviews: "Shameless, outlandish, just plain mean in its examination of the high school caste system....Yes, this was POPULAR, the anti-teen drama whose loyal following still rues its demise..."

$9.49 John Cusack and Diane Lane star in this romantic comedy titled after a personal ad on the Internet. Eight months after getting divorced, downtrodden preschool teacher Sarah (Lane) is wary of re-entering the dating pool. Seeing her reluctance as a cry for help, Sarah's large, jovial family plans an intervention. While Sarah does not appreciate being bombarded by photographs and phone numbers of potential mates (half of whom are married), even she can see that her most meaningful relationship should not be with her brother's dog--a loveable Newfoundland named Mother Theresa. After Sara answers personal ads with less-than-thrilling results, her sister ...

$14.99 Felicity Huffman leaves the glamor of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES behind and makes a surprising diversion with this offbeat film. Playing an uptight male-to-female transsexual named Sabrina "Bree" Osbourne (née Stanley), Huffman gives a remarkable performance. Readying herself for the final snip that will make her womanly transformation complete, Bree's life takes a sudden turn when she receives a phone call from New York. Her son, Toby (Kevin Zegers), has been jailed, and Bree needs to post bail for him. The only problem is, Bree didn't know she had a son, but her therapist refuses to give her written permission to have the final part of her sex-change operation if she doesn't go, so Bree heads east from her California home. Thinking Bree is a Christian missionary, gay hustler Toby informs her of his intention to become a porn star on the west coast, which brings out plenty ...
