Dreaming the Blues Product Description
Dreaming the Blues by Robin Trower was released Apr 05, 2011 on the Recall label. Recall (aka Snapper Music) puts out groovy, budget-priced double-disc collections, usually by worthy artists, and this 20-track collection by Brit guitar great Robin Trower is no exception. Culled from studio and live recordings from throughout his recording career, Dreaming the Blues is more than a taste and thankfully less than a bellyful of Trower's particular brand of guitar virtuosity. Dreaming the Blues All the Jimi Hendrix comparisons aside (comparisons he sought out in the '70s), Trower remains an engaging player whose technical acumen rarely if ever gets in the way of the excitement and emotion in his soloing and songwriting, and yes, in that order. Dreaming the Blues As the title suggests, the focus here is on the blues, Trower's psychedelic interpretation of them anyway, and it is not a proper retrospective -- nothing form Caravan to Midnight or the beautiful and criminally underrated In City Dreams is here. But there are also cuts from throughout his solo career (after leaving Procol Harum) -- including a generous helping from the classic Bridge of Sighs album. ...See Full Description

| Trower is on top of his game! Great album. If you are in to blues and psych lead passages, you'll love it. By DC (Bluegrass USA) |
| A Good Collection I think this is an interesting collection. It is a great listen for someone who doesn't know much about, or own much by, Robin Trower. It sounds great and has a nice collection of songs on it. However, it couldn't be called complete. His early material is represented here, on Disk 1, by way of live versions released in the 90's. Disk 2 covers the cream of his 90's studio recordings. Three different singers (James Dewar, Livingstone Browne & Robin himself) and several other band members show up on this diverse collection. Nice artwork(much like his 70's covers) and an interesting essay also add to this release. Robin is a great artist who is sadly overlooked at this point in time and I can only hope that collections such as this will spark some interest in what he is doing. Buy it.
