In addition to being credited with coining the term "reggae" back in the late 1960s, Toots Hibbert is a genre cornerstone whose contributions tend to be overshadowed by better-known artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Jimmy Cliff. TRUE LOVE finds producer Richard Feldman trying to set the record straight with this collection of all-star duets that span musical styles and generations. Luckily, Feldman's extensive preparations found him re-recording a number of Hibbert's better-known numbers and using many of the session musicians who played on the original versions.
The result features Eric Clapton peppering "Pressure Drop" with snappy blues riffs, Bonnie Raitt reworking the title cut and providing a fine romantic foil to Hibbert, and Willie Nelson trading verses on the country legend's own "Still Is Still Moving to Me." In keeping an authentic vibe to the proceedings, Feldman also recruited reggae vets Bunny Wailer (contributing to a soulful "Take a Trip") and the duo of Marcia Griffiths and Ken Boothe (on a snappy "Reggae Got Soul").
The calibre of the collaborators on "True Love" reveals the impact that Toots has had on several generations of rockers and rappers, while appearances from reggae icons Bunny Wailer and Marcia Griffiths show the respect granted to the man who might be the music's greatest living vocalist. Special guests include Ben Harper, Shaggy, Willie Nelson, Keith Richards, Ryan Adams, Eric Clapton, No Doubt, Jeff Beck, The Roots, Bootsy Collins, Bonnie Raitt, Trey Anastasio, Ken Boothe, Marcia Griffiths, Terry Hall, Rhazel, The Skatalites, U-Roy, Bunny Wailer and Rachel Yamagata.

True Love Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) roots eclectic these duets (and then some) are a joy...still is still moving to me with willie nelson is why i bought this, but i've been delighted by the rest of the cuts, especially true love is hard to find with bonnie rait, and 54-46 was my number with jeff beck. this proves that toots has aged well and still has the beat Submitted by LETTHEDOGOUT00 (kc, mo, usa, earth) Was This Review Helpful? Another great cd for Toots Hibbert Once again Toots and The Maytals have come up with a fantastic idea to collaborate with artists that Americans would be familiar with. For those of you who have never heard of Toots and The Maytals but have heard of artists like Shaggy, Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, and No Doubt then I highly suggest you buy this cd. Toots has taken some of his best hits from the 70's and transformed them into hits for todays generation.
For those of you that don't know Toots and The Maytals go farther back than Bob Marley, in the eyes of Jamaicans it is them who started the reggae music idea.

$12.65 LIVE AT THE BRIXTON ACADEMY features Bay Area rockers Faith No More's April 28th, 1990 live performance in the U.K. featuring the tracks "Epic," "Falling To Pieces," "Zombie Eaters" and an inspired version of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs."
Recorded during Faith No More's 1990 tour of England in support of their breakthrough album The Real Thing, this live release is an obvious cash in, basically replicating the recordings used for the band's first video release, You Fat Bastards. There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, mind you, but strange song sequencing and it's over-dependence on songs from the aforementioned record render it pointless except for fanatics interested in the two studio tracks, "The Grade" and "The Cowboy Song." As for the live material, the band shines on Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" and their own "The Real Thing." It is also amusing to hear singer Mike Patton ad lib lines from Technotronic's ...
