Max Cavalera's fourth outing under the Soulfly banner finds the former Sepultura frontman as fierce as ever. Beginning with the wailing siren riffs of the title track, PROPHECY combines new-world issues with old-world religion. Throughout the album, the dreadlocked Cavalera conjures up images of Zion, using spiritual themes as an intriguing counterpoint to razor-sharp guitar lines and tight rhythms.
As on past Soulfly records, the songs often consist of movements, rather than more conventional structures; "Living Sacrifice" features a dub-like breakdown, while "Mars" incorporates an extended flamenco guitar solo that morphs into a reggae jam. However, there's still room for some pure, undiluted metal, as revealed on a powerful, straightforward version of Helmet's "In the Meantime." In a surprising conclusion, "Wings" features soulful, R&B-tinged lead vocals by Asha Rabouin, and a horn-laden instrumental finale, proving yet again that Cavalera aims to keep Soulfly as unpredictable as possible.

yes, soulfly has made a record that surpasses its past. the songs here are much more heavier than what they've played in the past and max is showing more world flavor instead of south america. and it works for a master of world metal, because he's blending it in without overtaking the songs. and it's an awesome wall of sound when he punches through with his influence of n.y.h.c., and showing his chops when it comes to metal while dropping the "nu" portion. better written and more threatening than before, this will become a classic as far as the soulfly name applies.

At last!
FLYing Max has found the SOUL. To listen to the Prophecy is like to walk a closely known path, yet seen from other (wider) direction. Plus he made it the way, we can take it further and further in our minds. There is nothing to deal with, except the fact THIS IS a piece of true art; full of outrage, tears and cries as well as full of prayers for peace and love... all tied together in phenomenal passion. Respect!

i have all albums of SOULFLY and I think this album is much better than the latest, max cavalera have a magic creativity, prophecy is great!, the first song "propechy" like the old school, living sacrifice, defeat u, mars, moses, i believe, porrada!, soulfly IV, born again anarchist, in the meantime, wingz, execution style, but the surprise is with "march on river orina" is a popular song, with french horns, all the propechy album is fantastic, i love sepultura the trash/metal, now soulfly is diferent but max cavalera is the same scream guy!!!! that i ever hear, his voice! is fundamentally precious! and every song and album of max cavalera is precious>

Gone Forever is the heavily anticipated follow-up to God Forbid's 2001 CD Determination. Since the release of that album, their Century Media debut, they moved up the ladder from being an opening act on several package tours to scoring a spot on the MTV Headbangers' Ball tour (with likeminded bands Shadows Fall and Lamb of God) and finally emerging as headliners in their own right. They come out with their guns blazing on this album, as opener "Force-Fed" throws everything they've got at the listener: racing Swedish death metal riffs, tightly synchronized dual-guitar leads à la Carcass' Heartwork, "chugga-chugga" hardcore breakdowns, and a bloodletting of harsh, screaming vocals. It is an impressive, punishing song that comes at you from about five different directions. They proceed to do the same thing eight more times on the album, with only the brief quiet intros on "Precious Lie" and "Judge the Blood" offering any reprieve. Greg is one of the leading youngtrumpeters in the international jazz scene, performingfrequently with many of today's popular jazz artists. From 1984 throughout the 90s, Greg played with BuddyRich, Woody Herman, Gary Burton, John-Fedchock, MariaSchneider, Toshiko Akiyoshi, the Mingus Epitaph, FrankWess, Mickey Tucker, the Buck Clayton Big Band, andClark Terry.
