Between the Buried and Me: Tommy Rogers (vocals, keyboards); Shane Blay, Paul Andrew Waggoner (guitar); Kevin Falk (bass guitar); Terry Jason Roe (drums). A group such as Between the Buried and Me is rare to find, as the jaw-dropping talent possessed by these five men seems almost too good to be true. While their eponymous debut is a muddled affair, the amazing skill of these musicians is quite obvious, careening from one extreme to another with little regard for human safety. The only real problem noticeable on this disc is the slight lack of direction, as every song is a seething concoction of math rock and pummeling heavy metal with little room for effective song structures. The members of Between the Buried and Me are also determined and vicious in their beliefs, as "Arsonist" is a horrific stab at a specific Kansas church that preaches against homosexuality. Very few groups have the courage to stand up and speak so freely, and for this Between the Buried and Me should be applauded. This is a chaotic album that rains with fiery determination, and even its weaknesses are thoroughly enjoyable, marking it as one of the fiercest albums in the hardcore community. ~ Jason D. Taylor Though usually labeled as "hardcore," Between The Buried And Me has little to do with that music's original simplistic loud-fast-rules ethos. With a compositional complexity and rhythmic inventiveness that recall the work of Frank Zappa and the Mars Volta, ALASKA is not only unflinchingly heavy but dizzyingly varied. Though the album's death metal-esque grunts and 1980's shredder-style lead guitar will be familiar to metalcore fans, the frequent time changes, tempo shifts, jaw-dropping chops, and King Crimson references may find favor among fans of left-of-center metalheads System of a Down or followers of the NYC Downtown avant-garde scene. da bomb this album is crazy, everything from the creative guitar riffs to the raw and intense singing to the awkward bass lines and constant tempo changes.this album is heavy as hell and at the same time jazzy and melodic.this is not for your average person for it is for someone that has developed a taste for hardcore, but if you have i recommend it,its that good. eh... To be honest, I had trouble listening to this, because when I listen to a CD, I sit there with headphones and read along with the lyrics. And the vocals on this CD are pretty much impossible to follow, which CAN be okay (i.e. converge) but I think vocals can either add or hinder this music (hinder, in this case), so trying to ignore them doesn't work for me. But yeah if you don't care about lyrics or vocals go ahead and pick this up, the music can hold up on it's own...but it just annoyed me. Submitted by killface (Flint, Mi) Was This Review Helpful? none better Between the buried and me is quite possibly one of the most diverse and talented bands of our time. They tear you apart with blazing drum beats and meticulous arpeggios. Paul Waggoner graces the fretboard with his awsomeness, while Tommy Rogers lures you in with his unique scream and angel-like singing voice. They incorporate numerous genres into their latest cd, "the silent circus." Halfway through a song, you will find yourself enchanted by a beautiful break in what seemed to be the most brutal record you've ever heard. they don't fail, and they're here to stay Submitted by sillykid909 (Temecula, CA) Was This Review Helpful? This is the ONE to own from these guys This is BTBAM's best work to date. Their newest release "The Silent Circus" is still good, but their self-titled debut is incredible. Flowing song structures and insane heaviness is all this album is about. Metalcore? I dont think so...this band is something different in my book. I'd call these guys tech-metal if anything. They remind me of Cryptopsy but with melody and the melodic passages are beautifully crafted and played to perfection. Make this cd a part of your metal collection now! Between The Buried And Me
$10.85 Darkest Hour: John Henry (vocals); Mark Schleibaum, Kris Norris (guitar); Paul Burnette (bass); Ryan Parrish (drums). Recorded at Studio Fredman, Gothenburg, Sweden. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Recording information: Studio Fredman Goteburg Sverige (01/20/2003-02/16/2003). Director: Shelby Cinca. Photographer: Vance Lessard. On Darkest Hour's third album, Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation, it should come as no surprise that the lyrics are as vitriolic as the vocal timbre, decrying and describing a society where guns, violence, and malevolent media rule. The band rolls through twisted grindcore progressions in the background with reasonable aplomb. The album unexpectedly concludes ...

Between The Buried And Me
$10.09 Personnel: Paul Andrew Waggoner (vocals, guitar); Tommy Rogers (vocals, keyboards); Dan Briggs (vocals); Blake Richardson , Jason Roe (drums). Audio Mixer: Jamie King. Recording information: The Basement Studio, Rural Hall, NC; The Basement Studios, Aural Hall, NC. Illustrator: Paul Friemel. On 2006's THE ANATOMY OF, the North Carolina-based hardcore/metal group Between the Buried and Me presents a set of its favorite songs by other artists. Although the album may initially sound like a mix CD, the ensemble performs all of the tunes here in the style of the original recordings, ranging from notably influential tracks (a fierce version of Metallica's "Blackened") to guilty pleasures (a gleeful take on Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart") to complete curveballs (a synth-laden rendition of Depeche Mode's "Little 15"), resulting in an exercise in musical mimicry that's both enjoyably ridiculous and admirable. North Carolina's Between the Buried and Me ...
| | Lamb Of God Sacrament CD (2006)
Between The Buried And Me
$8.99 Lamb of God: Randy Blythe (vocals); Morton Mark, Willie Adler (guitar); John Campbell (bass guitar); Chris Adler (drums). Audio Mixer: Machine. Recording information: Sound Of Music, Richmond, VA; Spin Recording Studios, Long Island City, NY; The Machine Shop, Hoboken, NJ. The cult metal band's third major label album is a significant step forward in style and execution, with singer Randy Blythe's forceful vocals at their most guttural and drummer Chris Adler expertly steering the band through a dizzying variety of complex arrangements. The album's opener, "Walk With Me in Hell" sets the stage for a collection of dark, hyper-energized tracks, with the violent, rhythmically complex "Redneck" a particular highlight. Virginia metalcore kings Lamb of God get personal on the blistering Sacrament, an 11-track onslaught of machine gun riffs and larynx-shredding ...

Between The Buried And Me
$12.79 Fantastic 17 track anthology of the Red Rocker's recorded legacy that includes 4 of the seminal tracks he recorded with Montrose that brought him to the forefront of rock n roll as one of the genre's best frontmen. As well, his great solo hits are all here like "Red", "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy" and "I Can't Drive 55".
Personnel includes: Sammy Hagar. Includes liner notes by Roger Dopson. Personnel: Sammy Hagar (vocals, guitar). Liner Note Author: Roger Dopson. This 17-track compilation provides a fine overview of vocalist/guitarist Sammy Hagar's pre-Van Halen days. While the collection includes songs from Hagar's days with Montrose (most notably, the revved-up "Bad Motor Scooter"), the bulk of ANTHOLOGY is devoted to the raspy-voiced hard-rock hero's rowdy solo tracks, as best exemplified by "Cruisin' and Boozin'" and, of course, "I Can't Drive 55," his huge 1984 hit. Although THE ESSENTIAL RED COLLECTION is a more comprehensive Hagar set, this disc is an excellent sampler of ...

| | Amy Lacour Bitter Suite CD (2007)
Between The Buried And Me
$11.39 At her essence, Amy LaCour is a soulful singer-songwriter who croons with raw emotion, refreshing elegance and classic influences. Her robust voice emotes grace, power and pained passion like an old soul. Bitter Suite, LaCour’s five-song debut EP, explores the expansive range of her musical wanderlust, including traces of R&B, jazz, pop, modern rock and country music. “In order to remain inspired, I have to listen to all types of music,” she explained. “Everything that I hear influences me in some way. Sticking to one genre is far too creatively limiting.”Bitter Suite was recorded in the studio “live” by an acoustic trio featuring LaCour on piano, Reggie Hamilton on bass and Curt Bisquera on drums. Adding textural nuances were percussionist Debra Dobkin and guitarists Randy Jacobs and James Harrah, who combined to help create a moody, sometimes haunting universe. Producer Richard Barron kept the production sparse and organic breeding warmth and ambience, the idyllic setting for LaCour’s ...
| | Marea Alta: Live In Buckhead CD (2007)
Between The Buried And Me
$16.45 Prior to its establishment in the city of Atlanta, Marea Alta had been regularly performing in nightclubs and at many cultural events for the last seven years in the capital of the state of Florida, Tallahassee. Originally, the group had its headquarters in the Tampa Bay Area during the early 1980s. In 1984 the Marea Alta project achieved popularity overseas when one of its original compositions reached the top ten hit parade in Caracas, Venezuela (position number four for three consecutive weeks and seven months in a row within the Venezuelan musical charts). Presently, Marea Alta features an extensive inventory of original compositions which has seized and engaged the listeners in hundreds of live performances. The CD Marea Alta: Live in Buckhead is a perfect exemplar of the music Marea Alta delivers on the stage. On Friday, March 3, 2006 Marea Alta performed at Sambuca Restaurant (Buckhead, Atlanta). On this occasion, the group shared the stage with a special guest, Fono Jazz Universal and Jazz guitar recording artist Leo Quintero. A portion of the Marea Alta show with Leo was recorded and Marea Alta: Live in Buckhead was released on August 24, 2007 at the CD Release Concert of Marea Alta at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This concert was a total success. This CD contains some of the musical material from the already cited show at Sambuca. This live CD features premium sax player Nick Longo, Latin percussionist Jose De La Cruz, keyboardist J. Santiago Núñez (Marea Alta’s musical director) and Leo Quintero on guitar. Marea Alta’s formal guitar player Billy Wilkie also plays on some of the tracks. One of the songs of this live CD (“Cool Jam”) was selected by the network of PBS in Australia for its inclusion on a CD containing a musical collection called “A Latin Point of View: Vol. III”. This is the second time the Australian network of PBS has chosen Marea Alta among a catalog of international Jazz artists to be included within this additional special edition containing Latin Jazz music around the world. This theme has already been broadcast within the regular programming of PBS-FM 106.7MHz in Melbourne, Australia, in the musical showcase of “Fiesta Jazz” (a highly popular radio program of Jazz fusion and Latin Jazz produced and presented by Saúl Zavarce). Over the years, Marea Alta has been periodically featured within the regular programming of several jazz-oriented radio stations in North Florida, Georgia and overseas (Venezuela and Australia). Recent area appearances have included several Atlanta Jazz Festivals, the Riverbend Festival (Chattanooga, TN), Fernbank Museum for Martinis & IMAX, Grand Hyatt Hotel Sunday Jazz Brunch, Sambuca Jazz Café, Centennial Olympic Park, Woodstock City Park, The Sandy Springs ...
