Slick debut from Auckland pop group Pluto who have been singled out by media and musicians as potential rockstars. Pluto began in 1994 and have since been through a change in line up and name. Also, a hectic tour of Germany and brief stint of writing in London. Since returning to the shores of New Zealand they have toured with Neil Finn, released their debut album and have been penciled in for a tour with Bic Runga later in the year. As an album red-light syndrome is an idyllic pop triumph that carries a British indie flavor. Each song holds it weight with tight melodies and a depth sure to swell with future releases. These lads have fixed a stair to the top of New Zealand music hierarchy and look set to climb there with eyes half shut. Karmic Hit. 2005. | Red Light Syndrome Music Review Average Rating: (2.7 out of 5 stars) Very good It's the first NZ band I've ever listened to and they sound just great.
It's very neatly produced and the style is very good.
I will buy Pluto's other albuns! Submitted by Pedro (Aveiro, Portugal) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Nice mellow cd A good cd for the car personally with some pretty nice beats for a good relaxing drive or just a veg at home.
As for the negative review stating that this is rubbish without actually telling people why is not a review at all, if your not willing to contribute then just pass on by. Submitted by Craig (Dunedin, NZ) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Red Light Syndrome album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on ...

KC's debut album introduced to the world a group that threw various '60s genres into a blender and set the results afire with a blowtorch. One of the pioneers of the progressive rock movement that began in the late '60s and flourished in the early '70s, King Crimson was arguably the most consistently creative band in the genre. On IN THE COURT they blend wispy, ...

| | John Martyn One World CD (1977) Deluxe Edition
Red Light Syndrome CD music
$22.09 Readers should get one matter out of the way immediately -- this rather mysterious and cryptically annotated double-CD set from Prism Records is not comprised of tracks from John Martyn's 1977 Island album of the same name. Rather, according to its own very small-print annotation, it assembles 27 tracks recorded at Woodhall in 1994, and that's as much hard information as there is here about this set's origins. This is Martyn at his most musically diverse, with various progressive and world music influences, and even elements of soul woven throughout his familiar folk-rooted style, presented here with full amplification and (mostly) a small band accompaniment -- only "John Wayne," the closer for the set, gets into a really big-scale sound at its end. The content is all well-recorded and offers material ranging across a couple of decades of Martyn's history, encompassing several stylistic phases, but one wishes there were more information about the actual recordings and their origins and circumstances -- and especially about the live version of "Easy Blues" late on Disc Two (which, one assumes, is the same cut that opens the John Martyn Live CD from Artful), the parent company of Prism Platinum. As to the musical content, the fact that "Big Muff" and "One World," as well as "Dealer," which are spread all over these two CDs, also happen to be the finest pieces on this set -- though it should be said that everything here is worth hearing -- also speaks to the debt that this collection (whatever its origins) owes to the Island One World album. ~ Bruce Eder
After Sunday's Child, John Martyn took an extended break from studio recording. By late 1975, feeling he was close to going "completely round the bend," he had also stopped touring. To put some distance between himself and the pressures of the business and to recoup his creative energies, he went to Jamaica. There, after meeting dub producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, Martyn sat in on sessions by other artists and contributed to Burning Spear's Man in the Hills. Martyn returned to the U.K. reinvigorated and began recording One World in summer 1977. Produced by Island boss Chris Blackwell and featuring Dave Pegg, Morris Pert, John Stevens, Danny Thompson, and Steve Winwood, among others, One World combines the experimental tendencies of 1973's Inside Out and the more conventional song structures of Sunday's Child. While tracks ...

| | Girls Got Rhythm! CD (2006)
Red Light Syndrome album
$14.09 Timed to celebrate the Liquor & Poker label's third anniversary of existence, Girls Got Rhythm! is a collection of hard rock and heavy metal standards as covered by 13 of the world's most acclaimed all-female tribute bands. Which may not seem all that shocking a concept to open-minded denizens of the new millennium until they actually hear what these virtual anthems to testosterone sound like after benefiting from a woman's touch. Said anthems range from works by heavy metal giants like Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, to hard rock stars like Kiss and Cheap Trick, to punk rock icons like the Ramones and Misfits, to no less than three AC/DC tribute bands. Starting with the latter: both L.A.'s Thundherstruck and Seattle's Hell's Belles deliver excellent, nearly note-perfect renditions of the Aussie legends' "Thunderstruck" and "Back in Black," while the "Dog Eat Dog" turned in by the Whole Lotta Rosies (also from L.A.) is a little rougher in execution, but just as entertaining in the end. Two Kiss tribute bands -- both in full makeup and leather getups, of course -- make slightly more flawed appearances: Cincinnati, OH's Black Diamond because singer ...
