| | 707 Greatest Hits Live CD (2005)
Best Of songs
$10.75 When 707’s self-titled debut album was released the world of AOR took immediate notice. From takeoff to landing this album was filled with rock anthems that were supported by top-notch musicianship. The leadoff single, I Could Be Good For You, was an instant rock radio smash and garnered the foursome tremendous national airplay and stints on Solid Gold, Midnight Special and The Mike Douglas Show. The group hit the road and never looked back. For their sophomore studio effort, aptly entitled The Second Album, 707 continued by writing and recording some truly classic tunes like Rockin’ Is Easy, City Life and Strings Around My Heart. It wasn’t only rock fans around the world that took notice to 707’s sound. Many groups became fans themselves. Among them was REO Speedwagon, who invited 707 to support them on their hugely successful High Infidelity tour. Whether it was at a concert of their own on the bill for an arena show, 707’s musical prowess is a given.Fast forward to 2007. GB Music is thrilled to have uncovered a rare 707 concert. 707: Greatest Hits Live shows that Phil Bryant, Tod Howarth, Jim McClarty and Kevin Russell were as much at home in front of a crowd as they were in the studio. This CD is note for note how it happened 20+ years ago. There are no overdubs or studio trickery as on many of today’s live releases. Greatest Hits Live is 707 at their best: raw and rocking.
Recorded in Hollywood on Valentines Day, 1981, 707 open the set up with "Live with the Girl," which could be Deep Purple's "Highway Star" gone pop. "Feel This Way" follows with the same Cars-ish thumpa thumpa riff and '80s high-end vocal setting the stage for what is found throughout this close to 46-minute concert CD. It's a spirited romp through music that .38 Special and Loverboy embraced -- think Crowded House with less creativity but a serious enough approach. That these fellows are almost as forgotten as late-'70s rockers Whiteface (or the even more obscure group White Witch from the earlier '70s) makes this release all the more appealing. It's nice to know someone cares about the music they made! Even when a Beatlesque piano opens a tune like "Rockin' Is Easy" with its Utopia/Todd Rundgren chorus, it is still solidly locked in a time warp and can't help remain an exhibit solely for those who enjoy these dated sounds. Three songs are from the group's self-titled first Casablanca album from 1980, six are from 1981's aptly ...

Best Of album
$13.15 NAME: Tucker BoothALIASES: Tom Kristian, Tom Dobbins, JesusD.O.B.: June 1, 1979HEIGHT: 6'3"WEIGHT: 200 OCCUPATIONS: folk-rapper, Public Relations Director of The Frozen Food SectionEDUCATION: on sebatical from Principia CollegeTucker Booth was born on June 1st, 1979 in Portland, Oregon. Over his first 10 years on Earth he learned how to sing, dance, act, read, write, tell jokes, and play basketball. These skills carried over into his high school years and when he moved to Elsah, IL in 1989 he continued to pursue stand-up comedy as his area of interest. As Booth developed the focus shifted to acting and singing, most notably with fellow singer/songwriter Tom Kristian.Starting in 1994, Tucker and Kristian created Spacious Hitchhiking, a 3-piece rock band featuring Brad Rockabrand on Drums. When Spacious disbanded in 1995 Booth and Rockabrand went on to start The Linkoln Logs (an eery precursory vision of modern-day rock rappers Linkoln Park? you decide).Playing mostly in the Jerseyville and Alton, Illinois section of the Midwest was the backdrop for humble beginnings that went on to become a powerful human stage show. The Logs disbanded in 1996 and Booth soon hooked up with Tom Kristian again; this time in the folk-rap band Sweetland. Sweetland paved the way for a sonic landscape of lyrical poetry fused over traditional folk pop tempo. The band also featured Principia Anti-Icon Ed Pfeifer on Bass and pre-pubescent Wonder Drummer Collin Dowcett.Sweetland eventually recorded a full-length CD of songs entitle "God Bless Los Angeles" which is currently available via Tom Kristian: kristian@insideinteractive.com or tuckerbooth@hotmail.com.Tucker and Tom parted ways in 1999. Tucker went to school at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, the alma mater of such St. Louis and Chicago Hip-Hop Icons as DJ Crucial, Carl Sagan (aka Hi-Fidel), Serengeti, and several other ...

$38.69 Sublime's musical bouillabaisse drew on punk, folk, hip-hop, and reggae to make a soundtrack for a party attended by skaters, rastas, hippies, fratboys, and gangstas alike. It's no surprise, then, that a posthumous Sublime rarities box would result in perhaps the band's most eclectic offering yet. Composed of three CDs and a DVD of live performances and interviews, the collection follows Sublime from its origins as a band heavily influenced by the roots reggae of Bob Marley, the spiritual dub-punk of Bad Brains (a slew ...

$8.99 About THE GRAND-I have always dreamt about being in a band, says Amund Maarud, singer and guitarist in the Norwegian power-quartet The Grand, without the slightest touch of irony. Well, most rock musicians do just that, right? So what´s up with Amund?Thing is, Amund has actually always been in a band. More accurately; Amund has always fronted his own band. He has put out three albums, the first one when he and drummer brother Henrik were in their mid teens and still played with their father. He has travelled his native Norway for the last five-six years as a professional musician, and is actually a decorated veteran of the remarkably large Norwegian blues scene. He has headlined festivals and he has played with and alongside guitar legends, international as well as local. And yet, Amund Maarud is not even 25.The great thing about The Grand is the fact that the quartet works as a four cylinder engine, says studio-engineer Sven Olsen (Ricochets, Sivert Høyem, Dum Dum Boys), who recorded The Grands debut EP, to be released on The Grand Recordings/Sonet the 21st. of May of this year. -Every member of the band is crucially important. This is not at all about Amund showing off his impeccable guitar skills, he says.-This is one of the coolest things I´ve ever worked with. Olsen is not the only one who had a great time recording The Grand in legendary Athletic ...
