| | Creedence Clearwater Revival Creedence Country CD Creedence Clearwater Revival Discography of CDs
As the title implies, this collection rounds up Creedence Clearwater Revival's most country-tinged tunes. However, many of these songs, recorded between 1969 and 1972, are "country" only in their rural themes, since CCR was always a no-frills rock & roll band above anything else. "Lookin' for a Reason" bears the familiar twang of a classic country tune, with frontman John Fogerty turning his powerful voice into a laconic drawl, but most of the tracks here feature CCR's dirt-road blend of blues, R&B, and fierce guitar-driven rock. This trademark sound is well represented by key CCR tracks such as the galloping "Don't Look Now," the weary "Lodi," and the day-dreamy "Looking Out My Back Door." In addition, CREEDENCE COUNTRY also features a handful of songs from latter-day albums PENDULUM and MARDI GRAS as bonus tracks, including the organ-drenched "It's Just a Thought" and two songs ("Need Someone to Hold" and "Tearin' Up the Country") with vocals by drummer Doug Clifford.
Recorded in 1981. Includes liner notes by Hoyt Axton.
Creedence Clearwater Revival: John Fogerty (vocals, guitar); Tom Fogerty (guitar); Stu Cook (bass); Doug Clifford (drums).
Q (1/93, p.97) - 3 Stars - Good - "...Fogerty's twisted, gravelly vocals and the band's trucking guitar interplay shown in fully inspired form..." Creedence Country Review

Creedence Country album
$44.25 A three-disc collection of Yes concert performances dating from the early 1970s to the late '80s, THE WORD IS LIVE presents the pioneering British prog-rock group in its various incarnations. The first disc features live tracks from '70 and '71, when organist Tony Kaye's distinctive Hammond lines figured strongly into the band's performances, which here include a jam-heavy take on "America" that precedes its studio version. The second and third discs are filled with concert appearances that have Kaye's ...

| | Gram Parsons Complete Reprise Sessions CDs (2006) Remastered; Boxed Set
Creedence Country CD music
$24.29 Taking the place of the obligatory cd two-fer of GP and GREVIOUS ANGEL, Gram Parsons's THE COMPLETE REPRISE SESSIONS covers it all and then some for Grampires of all stripes. Produced by Emmylou Harris and Parsons cohort James Austin, this beautifully designed three-disc set includes one disc devoted to each solo record and a third featuring outtakes from each album's sessions. With fewer overdubs and Gram and Emmylou's vocals front-and-center in the mix, the final disc brims with the emotive soul and earthbound angelic vocals the two perfected. Among the final discs many highlights are looser alternate takes of "She" and "Streets of Baltimore" from GP and a "Hickory Wind" unadorned by the ridiculous fake crowd noise that mars the GRIEVOUS ANGEL version. The latter is the best and most stirring recorded performance of Parsons's signature song and alone worth the box's sticker price. Other features scattered on the first two discs include radio interviews (with Parsons's southern hippie charm in overdrive); captivatingly raw acoustic performances with him, Harris, ...
| | Robyn Don't Stop The Music CD (2003)
Creedence Country music CDs
$24.65 Swedish R&B songstress Robyn presents DON'T STOP THE MUSIC featuring 11 tracks including "Keep This Fire Burning" and "Still Your Girl."
After spreading her artistic wings with mixed success on 1999's My Truth, Robyn returns to more commercial fare on Don't Stop the Music. Once again she co-writes every song on the record, excluding a hidden rendition of Swedish standard "Regntunga Skyar," but the album is generally less introspective and more upbeat than her previous effort. Some fans may bemoan this as a backwards step, but truth be told Don't Stop the Music is a much stronger record for it. Robyn has a great ear for a pop hook, and this album is filled with them. In many ways it represents a culmination of the best elements of her first two albums, Robyn Is Here and My Truth. It has the strong melodies and instant pop appeal of the best songs on her debut, combined with the lyrical intelligence and consistency of her second full-length. There's a definite R&B flavor in places, particularly on the driving beats of the lead single "Keep This Fire Burning." Other tracks, such as the sugary ballad "O Baby" and the title track are closer to the pop sound she was initially famous for. The bitter "Should Have Known" is also notable for its liberal use of the word f*ck, although its use heightens the emotional punch of the song rather than sounding crass. Although once again she failed to recapture much ...
