After that third studio album, they broke up. The obvious next step? A best-of, of course. All of the chart hits dating from 2002 and 2003 are included ("Uh Uh," "Bump, Bump, Bump," "Gots ta Be," "Girlfriend"), along with a handful of album cuts. Though this compilation might've been seen as just another piece of product to take advantage of the group's fan base, it was actually quite handy and timely for casual fans who couldn't keep up with the group's release schedule. When this was released, the oldest song was two years old, so just about everything should've been fresh in the memory of the average listener. ~ Andy Kellman Dance/hip-hop outfit B2K burned short but bright before fading out. In about three years, they released their two studio records, a couple of remix EP's, a soundtrack to a movie starring two B2K members, and even a Christmas album. The four young men of B2K crooned sensual and imperious with a mature manner belying their age. The pulsating, vaguely sinister "Uh Huh" introduced them to the public, but it was the smoother-than-smooth, P. Diddy-sporting pop hit "Bump Bump Bump" that made them household names. Of course, both these tracks are present on GREATEST HITS along with fetching ballads like "Everything," and bumping dance hits like the Pied Piper remix of "Girlfriend" (the original is also present among the ten tracks). This collection covers the short-but-successful career of a group that combined boy-band harmonies with the funk of modern R&B, and serves as a reminder of how much the foursome had to offer. The Beatles: George Harrison (sitar, background vocals); Paul McCartney (bass instrument); John Lennon, Ringo Starr. Personnel: John Lennon (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, piano); George Harrison (vocals, guitar); Ringo Starr (vocals, drums); George Martin (piano). Recording information: EMI Abbey Road Studios, London, England. Assembling a compilation of the Beatles is a difficult task, not only because they had an enormous number of hits, but also because singles didn't tell the full story; many of their album tracks were as important as the singles, if not more so. The double-album 1962-1966, commonly called The Red Album, does the job surprisingly well, hitting most of the group's major early hits and adding important album tracks like ...

Mariah Carey's former label, before she moved to Virgin and then Island Def Jam (where she recorded under her own MonarC imprint), has made a point of licensing extra tracks from those subsequent corporate associations, as well as borrowing a track from J Records in compiling a survey of the various remixes of Carey's recordings. This means that the collection stretches as far back as 1991 for the "12' Club Mix" of "Emotions" and all the way up to 2003 for the "So So Def Remix" of "The One."
