Great Package 2cd set containing Great Zeppelin A Tribute To Led Zeppelin + Recover. If you don't own any of these cds then I recommend this cd.But if you have, don't bother as their are no bonus tracks! Submitted by NFUNNYTHING (Hobart Tasmania) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Disc one is Amazing ! Disc one gets the led out in a big way even though such classics as Black Dog, The Ocean, Misty Mountain Hop and Rock N' Roll are missing. Even though those tracks aren't here, I still can't get enough of this Zeppelin tribute from a great band in their own right. Basically, disc one is amazing.
Disc 2, I could have gone forever and never missed hearing this. The song selection is odd and the band doesn't seem to be putting their own signature on any of these tracks. That approach is fine if you're covering Led Zeppelin. But, when you are determined to bring to light an entire batch of material that isn't as strong as what is found on disc one, then it really disappoints.
P.S. The last reviewer needs to find a dictionary and look up the definition of irony. Submitted by TDJ (Houston, TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Double Dose
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that ...
| | Axe Offering CD (1981)
Double Dose
$10.49 Kicking off with their raison d'etre "Rock 'n' Roll Party in the Street," Offering proved to be the moment of glory for Florida's Axe. That single remains a great slice of heartland party rock, and the rest of the record ably falls in line. While the quaint "Video Inspiration" berates artificial imagery, "Jennifer" serenades a screen star; but Axe doesn't let such cerebral quandaries get in the way of booty-shaking boogie like the smoking run-through of Montrose's "I Got the Fire" (later covered by Iron Maiden and Rest in Pieces) and the summer-in-the-city riot selection "Burn the City Down." "Holdin' On" falls in the ol' reliable ...
| | Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits CD (2004) Remastered; Digipak
Double Dose
$10.39 Hard-rock juggernauts Guns 'N' Roses arrived as rock & roll saviors in a dark time of generic hair metal and bloated pop. With only five studio albums to draw from (one being the all-covers SPAGHETTI INCIDENT), nearly a third of the material on GREATEST HITS is unsurprisingly devoted to other people's songs. Inclusions range from a dramatic version of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heavens Door" and an outsized take on Paul McCartney's "Live ...
| | Michael Schenker Heavy Hitters CD (2005)
Double Dose
$13.49 There have been countless cover albums over the years, where established rock artists redo favorites from their formative years (David Bowie's PIN UPS, Rush's FEEDBACK, etc.), and the 2005 Michael Schenker release HEAVY HITTERS treads upon similar terrain. Put together by renowned studio musician Bob Kulick (best known to Kiss fans as the brother of Bruce ...

| | Kenny Burrell Ellington Is Forever, Vol. 1 CD (1975)
Double Dose
$10.05 Digitally remastered by Phil De Lancie (1993, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
For fans of jazz, it is deeply, satisfyingly appropriate that Kenny Burrell should be the one to organize this splendid homage to Duke Ellington. It is a well-known fact that Burrell was the Duke's favorite guitarist, and legend has it that on one occasion when Burrell couldn't make a date, Ellington chose to cut the guitar part from the score rather than have it performed by a lesser player. On Ellington Is Forever, Vol. 1, Burrell has put together a small big band, if you will, to perform 12 Ellington or Strayhorn compositions. It is a high-class affair, featuring such notables as Jimmy Smith, Thad Jones, and Joe Henderson, who turns in one of the most memorable solos on the record on "Caravan." The leader remains mostly inconspicuous throughout, comping tastefully and soloing with his typical funkiness when the music calls for it, but never drawing undue attention to himself. In fact, Burrell is so subservient to the music, so respectful of the contributions of his fellow musicians, that one would never guess that Ellington Is Forever is his own project. This is clearly an affectionate tribute, one born out of close association ...

| | Kataklysm Serenity In Fire CD (2004)
Double Dose
$9.95 Kataklysm is yet another death metal band that refuses to roll over and croak, the French-Canadian group unleashing its eighth studio album in ten years. And while Serenity in Fire doesn't kick down any doors in the genre, it does knock quite hard -- and there's a nebulous, inexplicable something that keeps Kataklysm a notch above the onslaught of tiresome, cookie-cutter death acts churning out assembly-line albums like Krispy Kremes. Maybe it's the band's conviction and lack of pretension, Serenity in Fire exuding a convincing degree of passion that's often nonexistent among more high-concept gore metal and ludicrously technical outfits. The positives: an impressive and effective arsenal of speeds and tempo shifts; upper- and lower-register double-tracked vocals (à la Deicide) ...
