Alternate 4 album
$14.45 After the mildly disappointing Alternative 4, Anathema strikes back with Judgement. Upon first listen, the music and message seem a bit mellow for these doomy metal moguls. Second listen is like a magical rediscovery of a lost art form, the art of creating simple, depressing hard rock that is so emotionally expressive that it bends one's own constitution. Quiet and introspective on songs like "One Last Goodbye" and "Anyone, Anywhere," Anathema has the ability to spew forth raw, volcanic pain on ...
| | Anathema Fine Day To Exit CD (2001)
Alternate 4 CD music
$14.45 Lush isn't an adjective that one would have used to describe Anathema in the early to mid-'90s; back then, the British band was often described as blistering, ferocious, and brutal. But Anathema has changed considerably since then, and 2001's A Fine Day to Exit is, in fact, a lush and highly melodic effort that has very little in common with their early releases. While the old Anathema was an underground metal band, this CD has nothing to do with metal -- even those who have an extremely broad definition of the term heavy metal would agree there's no way that A Fine Day to Exit should be described as metal. Anathema has evolved into an atmospheric, moody, spacey alternative ...

$17.75 Though the Mississippi singer Bobbie Gentry was best known for her 1967 hit, the eerie "Ode to Billie Joe," she continued to make records until she retired from show business in the mid-1970s. This twofer, which showcases her final two releases, includes her versions of Bacharach and David's "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," as well as Laura Nyro's "Wedding Bell Blues."
Combined for the first time on one cd, raven presents two unique albums by the legendary grammy-award winning singer/songwriter bobbie gentry. While best remembered ...

The original Broadway production of MY FAIR LADY, as heard on this 1956 recording, not only made stars of Rex Harrison (already an established actor) and Julie Andrews, it introduced a host of unforgettable tunes into the Great American Songbook. "On the Street Where You Live," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," each has been sung so many times by so many performers that it's easy to forget who laid down the definitive versions. Throughout the show, Harrison's charisma-laded sprechtstimme and Andrews's bell-like tones provide the perfect contrast for each other, not to mention the perfect vehicle for this rich set of songs.
Originally released on Columbia (5090).
Audrey Hepburn's part is sung by Marni Nixon.
Recorded at Columbia 30th St. Studios, New York, New York on March 25, 1956.
Principal cast includes: Rex Harrison (Professor Henry Higgins); Julie Andrews (Eliza Dolittle); Robert Coote (Colonel Pickering); ...
