This solid collection is a compelling career overview of one of rock's most distinctive groups. Led by Mark Knopfler, whose deadpan vocal style and stunning guitar technique characterize the band's sound, Dire Straits burst on the scene in 1978 with "Sultans of Swing." This VERY BEST OF begins there (even amid the ensemble's later hits, the lead-off track's clean shuffle rhythm and minor-key melody still dazzles) and continues all the way to cuts from the group's 1991 release, ON EVERY STREET, and their 1993 live outing, ON THE NIGHT.

Not so much a traditional greatest-hits album in the style of the first two volumes in the series, Queen's GREATEST HITS III is more of a collection of rarities, remixes, and under-appreciated album tracks. There's only one actual chart hit in these 17 cuts, the version of "Somebody To Love" recorded at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley Stadium with George Michael on lead vocals. Other songs with guest singers include Elton John's take on "The Show Must Go On" and an interesting remix of "Another One Bites the Dust" with guest raps by Wyclef Jean.
Besides that, there are three solo tracks by Mercury and one by Brian May, plus about a third of the final Queen album, MADE IN HEAVEN. Highlights include the previously rare holiday single "Thank God It's Christmas" and Queen's final recording, the tributary "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)," recorded by the three remaining members of Queen for ...

In GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM, which is based on a true story, Cronauer (Robin Williams) is a nonconformist with a wicked sense of humor who is transferred from Crete to Saigon. Outrageous and over the top, Cronauer speaks in accents, creates characters, pokes fun at everyone--including the President--and spins banned rock and roll tunes. While his antics amuse the masses, they also put him ...
