$13.39 Originally released on Swallow (6011) in 1965 and Swallow (6019) in 1974. Includes French and English translations. Personnel: Harry Balfa, Rodney Balfa (vocals, guitar); Dewey Balfa, Will Balfa (vocals, fiddle); Burkeman Balfa (vocals, triangle); Marc Savoy (fiddle, accordion); Hadley Fontenot (accordion); Tony Balfa (drums, triangle). Translators: Barry Jean Ancelet; Floyd Soileau; Owen Demoruelle; Ron Stanford. The Balfa Brothers Play Traditional Cajun Music, Vols. 1-2 combines both of the group's original Play Traditional Cajun Music albums onto one disc. The first volume was released on Swallow Records in 1965 and helped kick-start the Cajun revival of the '60s. It's an excellent album, featuring wonderful harmonies from Rodney, Will, and Dewey, as well as stellar instrumental work. The second volume, recorded and released in 1974, isn't quite as strong as its predecessor, but it is still very good and is filled with terrific music. Both albums represent the Balfa Brothers at their peak. They may have a number of very good albums in their catalog, but The Balfa Brothers Play Traditional Cajun Music, Vols. 1-2 effectively explains what they are all about. ~ Thom Owens If ...

Raga Shankara/Sanjh Saraval/Bhairavi
$18.69 2007 digitally remastered two-fer featuring a double dose of Bryan Hyland on one shiny disc. Both Rockin' Folk and Joker Went Wild were released on Liberty Records in the mid '60s. Comes housed in a slipcase and features extensive liner notes. BGO.
Audio Remasterer: Andrew Thompson . Liner Note Author: Malcolm Whitby. This two-fer assembles a pair of mid-'60s LPs recorded by Brian Hyland for the Liberty label. While the title portends a more contemporary, Dylan-inspired approach, Rockin' ...
