The life of the notorious rapper is shown through home movies, photographs and poetry. Includes a featurette, interviews, deleted scenes, Easter eggs. Producer-director Lauren Lazin conceived of this inventive documentary as a way to celebrate the life of one of hip-hop's most iconic figures, Tupac Shakur. Rather than rely on friends, family members, and associates to tell the slain rapper's life story, Lazin instead lets Shakur himself do the talking, as if he's speaking from the grave. Raised by his mother, a high-profile Black Panther, Tupac Shakur was a deeply sensitive child who found comfort in the arts. Run-ins with the law, stints in jail, and feuds with east coast rappers Puff Daddy and Biggie Smalls all precede the night when he got shot five times in New York City, and his eventual murder in Las Vegas at the premature age of 25. Shakur always remained passionate and supremely distinct, living his life to the fullest and speaking his mind with unflinching clarity and honesty. There's like 100 dvd documentary's on Tupac, most are cheaply done with the same footage being shown in all of them.
This however is the official documentary made by Afeni Shakur as the producer, and also the only one with access to Tupac's music.
So point blank if you want a Doc on Tupac this is the one to get!

Masterful, powerful and gripping.
2Pac was so much more than just a musician. The man was a poet, a revolutionary, a politician, as well as an artist with a great social concience. In short, he was a great leader and a true ambassador for his people. This documentary brings out all the rare qualities of this great man. It is masterfully done. I highly recommend it, not just for the fans of his music but for anyone who wants to get to know this fascinating individual and what he stood for. Don't belive the media-hype! Pac was no gangster. I firmly believe that somebody in the government had him killed because of his outspokeness on poverty and freedom of speech in America. This was no East Coast - West Coast beef. His murder is unsolved to this day.
The movie is a must see - must have.
R.I.P. Pac, your music lives forever! Pour out a little liqour for your homeboy and keep this man in your thoughts!
