The story of how the 1980 U.S. Hockey team won a gold medal, led by coach Herb Brooks. Stars Kurt Russell. DVD special features include outtakes, commentary and a tribute to the late Herb Brooks.

From Walt Disney Pictures comes MIRACLE, an inspiring family drama that combines hockey and history in retelling the story of one of sports' all-time greatest upsets. In 1980, amidst the tense political climate of the Cold War, Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) took over as coach of the U.S. Olympic hockey team. With the help of affable assistant coach Craig Patrick (Noah Emmerich), Brooks selected a group of twenty amateur hockey players who faced the daunting task of bringing respectability to their country's floundering program. While Brooks was well aware that his team lacked the talent and experience of the team from Russia, he nonetheless devoted his energy to realizing his lifelong dream: to coach a team to Olympic gold. Stepping into the gaudy wardrobe of the legendary Brooks (who was a consultant on the film and died in an automobile accident just after production wrapped), Russell delivers one of his finest performances to date. Surrounded by a cast of unknown young actors, Russell captures the complexities of a man who dared to dream the impossible dream. Director Gavin O'Connor and screenwriter Eric Guggenheim deftly balance the drama of the game itself with the larger political implications the game inspired, celebrating this truly miraculous moment in time.

5 stars UNITED WE STAND
A time when America needed heros Herb Brooks(Kurt Russell) takes 20 unlikely young men and turns them into one unbeatable team. I watched them play live and this is one move that takes me back to that. I will continually watch this over and over; it is so astounding. They can do away with the "Dream Teams" and bring us back the mentality that was given by THIS team.

4 stars Excitement Captured
Most sports movies have a difficult time capturing the excitement and emotion of the sport portraited. Miracles does an excellent job in displaying the feeling surrounding this team and the hockey games. Especially well done are the skating seens during the games. You get the feeling of being right in the play. Great movie, great acting by Kurt Russell. Too bad we already know the ending at the begining of the movie.

Miracle

From the studio that brought you THE ROOKIE and REMEMBER THE TITANS comes the movie everybody loves -- MIRACLE. Filled with exhilarating nonstop hockey action and heart-racing suspense, it's the inspiring true story behind one of the greatest moments in sports history ? the 1980 United States ice hockey team's triumphant Olympic victory against the Soviet Union. Kurt Russell gives a brilliant performance as the dynamic and determined coach Herb Brooks, who had an impossible dream -- beat the seemingly unbeatable Soviets at their own game. Starting with a handpicked group of 26 undisciplined kids, Brooks coached them to play like they never played before, and turned 20 of them into a team that believed they could achieve the unachievable -- and in the process, united a nation with a new feeling of hope.

FRIENDS star David Schwimmer takes a rare turn in the director's chair for this British comedy, written by its principal actor, Simon Pegg (SHAUN OF THE DEAD), and THE STATE favorite Michael Ian Black. Pegg plays Dennis, a likeable loser who got cold feet on his wedding day and ran out on his bride-to-be, Libby (Thandie Newton). The action in RUN, FAT BOY, RUN takes place five years after this event. In the preceding years, Dennis has landed a job as a lowly security guard and Libby has given birth to a son, Jake (Matthew Fenton), who was conceived with Dennis before their break-up. Libby has also hooked up with a new man, the slimy but successful American businessman Whit (Hank Azaria). Dennis, who is still hung up on Libby, decides he must compete against Whit in the forthcoming London marathon to win back her affections. But, naturally, things don't quite go according to plan. Pegg and Schwimmer's film is full of some wonderfully silly set pieces, and the supporting cast occasionally resembles a Who's Who of British comedy, with Dylan Moran (BLACK BOOKS), David Walliams (LITTLE BRITAIN), and Stephen Merchant (EXTRAS) all making appearances. But the film also contains some surprisingly touching moments, with Schwimmer occasionally tempering the laughs by weaving genuine sentiment into the plot. Many of the film's belly laughs come courtesy of Moran, who makes an excellent foil as Dennis's best friend (and Libby's cousin), the wayward Gordon. But the real star of the show is Pegg, who seems to instinctively know when to ...

The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side. Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa Milano), moves to the city and helps to scare him straight. Soon, crazed Wallace Stevens-quoting leader Jake Gallo (Michael Weston) turns on Ted, putting both Ted's and Gwen's lives in serious jeopardy. The film opens with the Hippocratic Oath, and it's easy to tell that PATHOLOGY is going to show us doctors behaving badly, and the film is in fact almost gleefully immoral, with an attractive young cast that engages in almost any kind of forbidden behavior one can imagine. Showing that he isn't afraid to take on risky roles, Ventimiglia may surprise his young fans. Director Marc Schoelermann's taste for realism extends ...

Marcel Langenegger makes his feature-film directorial debut with the aptly titled DECEPTION, a film about secrets and lies. Jonathan McQuarry (Ewan McGregor) feels that life is passing him by. He completes short-term audits for a large firm, but doesn't really feel any connection to his employer and finds it difficult to make friends at his assignments since he's never there for long. Jonathan's circumstances change overnight when charming lawyer Wyatt Bose (Hugh Jackman) befriends him. In an instant, the shy accountant is playing doubles tennis with his new friend and beautiful women and visiting upscale clubs. Just as mild-mannered Jonathan is getting used to his new lifestyle, Wyatt leaves town on business. When Jonathan finds himself mistakenly in possession of Wyatt's cell phone, he also discovers a whole new world of anonymous sex in elite Manhattan hotels with powerful women known simply as "The List." But soon Jonathan is in over his head: he's the prime suspect when a woman goes missing, and the threat of extortion looms. This tale weaves an intricate web of lies and treachery. Jackman is both charming and chilling as Wyatt, a man utterly without conscience, while McGregor falls easily into character as the bespectacled Everyman, Jonathan. Nerdy but likable, Jonathan really just wants to connect with someone. Along the way, he learns that he is capable of more than he ever ...

Melvil Poupaud gives an extraordinary, complex performance in TIME TO LEAVE (LE TEMPS QUI RESTE), written and directed by iconoclastic French auteur François Ozon (8 WOMEN, SWIMMING POOL). Poupaud stars as Romain, a selfish, self-absorbed fashion photographer who is suddenly diagnosed with terminal cancer. Not wanting anyone to know about his illness, he brutally breaks up with his boyfriend, Sasha (Christian Sengewald), belittles his sister, Sophie (Louise-Anne Hippeau), and goes against his doctor's (Henri de Lorme) suggestion to give chemotherapy a chance. The only person he chooses to confide in is his grandmother, Laura (the legendary Jeanne Moreau), who has been estranged from the family for many years for what they considered inappropriate behavior after the loss of her husband. Knowing his time is running out, Romain travels around with a small digital camera, capturing tender moments that are very different from the high-profile fashion shoots he is used to. He finds solace with his beloved grandmother, but to everyone else he is cold and distant, seemingly going out of his way to not take the easy way out by rediscovering life and love in his final ...
