Elegy album for sale Product Description
Elegy album for sale by Amorphis was released May 29, 1996 on the Spinefarm label. To stand out in a field where the obvious signifiers are the most common, and therefore the most clichéd, elements, one has to know when to try something different. Elegy CD music Amorphis had already shown itself to be a more than competent end-of-the-century Scandinavian black metal outfit, but there were plenty of others equally able to say the same. The inspired turning point had two points of origin -- recruiting another lead vocalist, Pasi Koskinen, to sing with Tomi Koivusaari, and deciding to record an album infused with earlier Finnish folk influences, both musically and lyrically. ...See Full Description

| Finland's Finest Amorphis are truly an amazing band. This album is a masterpiece. The opener "Better Unborn" uses bombastic heaviness with the sitar and some powerful vocals. The best track on this album is without a doubt the third song, "The Orphan". This song mixes gothic elements and ends with a choir echoing as it fades away...beautiful. Amorphis demonstrate their amazing musicianship here with some great instrumental work as displayed by the song "Relief". "Elegy" is a melancholy song mixing elements of doom and goth into the framework and at the end you hear some hauting keyboards as the song fades away. "My Kantele" is heavy and melodic using some great low vocals that death metal fans love. The Death Metal is not as prevalent on this album as in previous albums from this phenomenal band. Songs like "Weeper on the Shore" bring to mind psychedelic seventies rock with the keyboards and guitars. The final track "My Kantele (Reprise)" is a great way to end this album. Acoustic, emotional and well orchestrated with the sitar used once again...Finland's finest band, no doubt about it and, in my opinion, one of the greatest bands in the world today. Revel in the glory of Amorphis and thier triumph "Elegy".
