| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Ame CD music
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ("Can't Buy Me Love" with a "She Loves You" tag). With his smooth croon and charming persona, Buble is a natural performer, and, for fans of fearlessly romantic and infectiously swinging music, IT'S TIME is a sure bet.
Although it took more than a year of concerts and promotional appearances, Michael Bublé's 2003 debut disc of swinging pop standards finally ascended the ...

| | Frank Zappa Lather CDs (1996) Import; Boxed Set
Ame songs
$35.59 LATHER (pronounced "leather") was recorded in the 1970s and originally intended as a 4-LP box set. It was, however, never released that way; instead, the material from the project dribbled out over the course of 1978 and 1979 on the albums ZAPPA IN NEW YORK, SLEEP DIRT, STUDIO TAN, ORCHESTRAL FAVORITES and SHEIK YERBOUTI.
This 1996 release is the first issue of the full LATHER, and it features four previously-unreleased songs, along with previously-unreleased versions or mixes of many of the tracks.
Recorded between 1973 and 1977. Includes liner notes by Gail Zappa and Simon Prentis.
This limited edition is packaged in a deluxe mini-album sleeve.
And just what is LATHER (pronounced "leather")? It is the ultimate amalgam of all that Zappa could be. From unabashedly comical novelty songs ("The Legend Of The Illinois Enema Bandit") and cynical observations of human behavior ("Titties And Beer") to complex instrumentals ("Re-Gyptian Strut," "Pedro's Dowry") and epic swathes of nonsensical madness ("The Adventures Of Greggery Peccary"). In addition, there are several bonus tracks, including a remixed version of "Re-Gyptian Strut," the solo guitar track "Leather Goods," a bizarre "Revenge Of The Knick Knack People" and the classic Zappa sound of "Time Is Money."
Recorded at various times with a revolving cast of characters, the huge mass of material known as LATHER was to be released in the late '70s when Zappa's record company refused to put it out. ...
| | Steve Warner Way Things Used To Be CD (2001)
Ame album
$18.99 "Steve's songs reveal a sharp eye for detail, an ear for the unexpected chord, and create a mood that makes these newer works sound as if they've been around for years and sung by many. No small praise." - David Roth, Songwriter, Recording ArtistRarely does an independently produced CD merit repeat listening. But that's the case with The Way Things Used to Be. Sit on the front porch with a glass of cold lemonade, put your feet up, lean back and listen. You'll soon find yourself lost in crystal clear imagery and emotion. Warner has a John Prine-like knack for hooking you in with uncluttered charm and directness. The Way Things Used to Be is the long overdue set from a writer who has won numerous awards, has had four covers of his songs, and is now gaining recognition on Nashville's Music Row. The songs offer an engaging variety... country blues, tender ballads, a fiddle hoedown, a waltz ... and deal with both light-hearted nostalgia and social issues not typically tackled. The arrangements are meticulously woven from a variety of instruments - steel guitar, ...

| | Culver City Dub Collective DOS CD (2007)
Ame music CDs
$12.85 When a band calls itself the Culver City Dub Collective, you immediately think you know what to expect: laid-back SoCal reggae with a loopy "whoa, dude" groove. In this case, the reality is a bit more complex. Led by transplanted Bostonians Franchot Tone (guitar) and Adam Topol (drums), the band is actually a loose aggregation whose music ranges from smoky dubwise reggae to Afro-Latin grooves, jazz, and abstract soundscapes that dissolve into an almost Brian Eno-esque ambience. And there's more: "No More My Love" is what a ska band would sound like if it were fronted by Tom Waits, and "Bad ...
