Activision's game version of DREAMWORKS SHARK TALE film allows players to relive the motion picture and interact with all their favorite characters. The game contains many different types of gameplay, including fighting, exploring, dancing, racing, and action levels. Players take on the role of Oscar, a poor fish whose get-rich-quick schemes never seem to work. Oscar owes a loan shark 5,000 clams, and he's supposed to sell an heirloom to pay it off. Instead, he bets on a race. He loses, and soon the loan shark's son Lenny is after him. When Oscar and Lenny meet, however, they find themselves becoming fast friends. Lenny hatches a plan to get Oscar the fame and fortune he needs: Oscar will beat up Lenny and become known as the shark slayer. The plan goes downhill, of course, and getting Oscar out of it and other situations will require players to overcome a variety of different levels. The game tells the story of the film through a series of cut scenes as players swim, sneak, race, and fight their way through 25 levels. Even the moments in the movie when Oscar breaks into song are represented by a series of pattern-matching mini-games. Players of all ages will enjoy SHARK TALE, although the GBA version of the game is aimed at younger players than the console version. The Winnie the Pooh-themed collection Best of Children's Favorites: Pooh's Top 40 Tunes surrounds classic children's songs with some new songs relating the adventures of Winnie and the rest of his friends from Pooh Corner. Rather confusingly, the collection also includes songs sung by other Disney characters, including Goofy (who sings quite a few songs here, including "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "Camptown Races" among others) and Donald Duck, whose "Old Duck Donald" is nothing if not appropriate. Winnie the Pooh himself doesn't show up until the equally apt "Rumbly in My Tumbly," but this collection still manages to feature more of its star attractions than some of Disney's other singalong collections. Disney Princess The Ultimate Song Collection is one of the better ideas for a Disney compilation: it's a collection of most of the memorable songs sung by the princesses in films spanning Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to Pocahontas and Mulan. The album opens with "If You Can Dream," a new song featuring all of the vocal talents behind the princesses in the later Disney movies. Like most diva collaborations, it's less than the sum of its parts, with bland songwriting detracting from the performances of Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid's Ariel), Lea Salonga (Aladdin's Jasmine and Mulan), Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas), and Paige O'Hara (Beauty and the Beast's Belle). However, the rest of the collection is strong, serving up memorable songs from latter-day Disney films like The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" and "Kiss the Girl" and The Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Kuhn's performances of Pocahontas' "Just Around the Riverbend" and "Colors of the Wind" are also standouts due to her striking voice, which is stronger and more womanly than most of the other singers who have given their voices to Disney princesses.
