| | Ryan Farish Beautiful CD Ryan Farish Discography of CDs
(4 Customer Reviews)
Word of Ryan Farish's music spread like wildfire, causing an astounding million-plus downloads on the MP3.com site, all before a formal release was issued. BEAUTIFUL presents Farish in his first outing for the Capitol Records subsidiary Neurodisc. Here, he sticks to his proven formula of pastoral synth and tight drum work, the very things that made him an independent success. Farish handles all the keyboards and programming while cohort Mike Daniels appears on cello throughout. The opener, "Sunshine in the Rain," places meandering piano figures against confident breakbeats. "Full Sail" unfurls a driving rhythm amidst ethereal, Enya-esque voices.
"Everlasting" begins with methodical percussion and opens into a serene flute landscape. Ryan Farish's BEAUTIFUL manages to be both introspective and challenging, proof of his emerging talents.New Age Retailer (Vol. 18, No. 5, pp.82-4) - ?[I]nventive instrumental songs reminiscent of the elements of nature.? Ryan delivers on his album debut.... If you like Enigma, Yanni, Amethystium, and Delerium. You will find all the influences mixed in nicely here, with a touch of Ryan's own musical talents.
The more I listen to this cd, the more it each track grows on me. I like it alot to be honest with you.
After 10 full length plays here are some tracks that I like. The first track 'Sunshine in the Rain, #3 'Chasing the Sun' which really catches you from the first listen, #5 Carried By the Wind, #8 'Full Sail' and I really like #11 'Adoration'.
If you like all the artists that I named at the beginning of this reveiw, you are sure to like this also. You will want to add it to you collection.
Go and buy it!

| | Mannheim Steamroller Christmas 1984 CD (1984)
Beautiful CD music
$8.65 Also available in the CHRISTMAS COLLECTION box set with CHRISTMAS EXTRAORDINARE, A FRESH AIRE CHRISTMAS and CHRISTMAS IN THE AIRE.
Christmas 1984 is the first holiday album the Mannheim Steamroller released, and it remains their definitive work. Chip Davis never strayed from the clean, airy instrumental style that he exhibits here (and earlier perfected on his Fresh Aire albums), but it is here where it all sounded fresh. It's also where he had his best selection of songs, tackling a variety of classic carols like "Deck the Halls," "We Three Kings," "Good King Wenceslas," "Wassail, Wassail," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," and "I Saw Three Ships." Some listeners never found the Mannheim formula that engaging, but anyone who his been captured by one of their holiday records should investigate Christmas 1984, which is where it all began. ~ Rodney Batdorf

$12.09 | | Sarah Brightman Classics CD (2001)
Beautiful songs
$11.39 Sure, she's as close as you can get to naked in the album artwork. OK, so there's an insert hawking Sarah Brightman calendars, coffee mugs, and sweatshirts. Yes, there's a fair amount of calculation likely in her pop-classical crossover. That doesn't mean the lady can't sing like an angel. Before the embryo-with-pipes known as Charlotte Church came along, Brightman was THE pop-classical singer, whose supernatural pipes allowed her to appeal to both camps with equal verve. CLASSICS proves that, aided by a bevy of orchestras and choirs, Brightman is still big coin in the crossover world. And she's got a lot more traditional operatic chops than little Miss Church to boot. Making her way through old warhorses like "Pie Jesu," "Ave Maria," and "Nessun Dorma," Brightman manages to invest these tracks with new life, and when she takes on the Linda Ronstadt tune "Winter Light" she brings to it an ethereal majesty that leaves no question as to her interpretive abilities on the pop side of the fence.

| | Loose Ends Best Of CD (2003) (Import)
Beautiful album
$9.19 The only U.S. chart hit not featured on the Best Of Loose Ends compilation from EMI U.K. is "You Can't Stop the Rain." Most of the other significant moments in Loose Ends' history are provided here, making it the one disc to snap up, since all of the group's albums were uneven affairs. The biggest singles -- "Hangin' on a String (Contemplating)," "Stay a Little While, Child," "Slow Down," "Watching You," "Don't Be a Fool" -- are included, but a couple key album tracks are missing in action. Even with the minor gaffes, this should be all the Loose Ends that you'll need. Unless a very similar compilation comes along someday to right the wrongs, look for this one. ~ Andy Kellman
Import only compilation from one of the top British Urban/dance acts of the early '80s. This trio (Carl McIntosh, Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol) began life as Loose End, but changed their name to Loose Ends right before fame came knocking on their ...

| | Jim Taylor Wjim 2007: Back To The Country CD (2008)
Beautiful album
$10.15 Jim Taylor has been performing professionally since 1974. The singer-songwriter's work has been praised in such magazines as Billboard, Dirty Linen and Bluegrass Unlimited. From 1976 to 1985, he led the Nashville-based Taylor & Stone Band, a six-piece country-rock outfit that toured tirelessly throughout the United States and Europe, releasing 11 singles and two albums of original songs. Since moving to Asheville in 1988, Jim has toured solo, with The Forest Hill Band, with his bluegrass group, The Shady Oak Ramblers, his 'retro-folk' band, Simple Folk, and with the swing/pop/rock group, Tuxedo Junction. Jim has released five critically acclaimed solo CD's: Time Flies (1995), The Health Adventure (1998), Tell Me A Story (1999), Momentum: Songs About Science (2006), and WJIM: Back To The Country (2008). Jim also sang lead and was featured songwriter on the Forest Hill Band's 1999 CD, 'Step On It.'According to Jim: "This may seem like a musical departure for me, but only if you weren't around for the 'Taylor & Stone Band' era in Nashville from 1976 until 1987. Our 1980 album (remember those 12' round black vinyl things?) was titled 'A Million Light Beers Away. ' This music is the logical follow-up to that record for me, only 27 years later. This all happened because Bill Ward wandered up after I'd sung a cheating song at Jubilee one Sunday morning and asked if I'd ever written any other country music. Bill's a ...
