Uriah Heep - Ultimate Anthology Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Not The "Ultimate", But Excellent Nonetheless In its five-year history, Classic Rock Productions has mishandled a number of Heep releases, but "ULTIMATE ANTHOLOGY" is surprisingly excellent, despite CRP's involvement with it.
A couple of production aspects bear mention. Both are quite minor, and neither prevents this live compilation from being a five-star release. But the transition from one show to another isn't accomplished very smoothly, if at all, because the song "order" keeps switching back and forth between the five shows presented. It would have made more sense to arrange these shows as a straightforward chronology.
And apparently the 1989 footage wasn't transferred from the best possible source. The overall quality of this segment is very good, but some blurred color tones and slight picture grain indicate CRP used a regenerated video tape of this show when making the DVD. That's a bit disappointing, because the same show was released on laser disc back in 1990, and the LD can still be obtained on the collectors' market. A truly "ultimate" anthology would have utilized it as the highest-quality transfer source, assuming the original master reels are unavailable.
But those quibbles matter little compared to the majestic power of Uriah Heep. The whole disc is packed with great stuff, and it's the best Heep DVD yet released. Buy and enjoy. Submitted by Realmkeeper (Tacoma, WA; USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

$12.79 Renowned guitarist Gary Moore devoted much of his early career to playing metal-tinged hard rock, first as a member of 1970s bands Skid Row, Thin Lizzy, and Colosseum II, and then as a solo artist throughout the 1980s. But in the 1990s, Moore reembraced the influences of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Peter Green for a return to his first love, the ...

Uriah Heep - Ultimate Anthology film
$11.79 In 1972, British hard-rock band Deep Purple launched a massive world tour in support of their landmark proto-metal album MACHINE HEAD. This concert film captures two stops on the MACHINE HEAD tour, both featuring the classic lineup of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, singer Ian Gillian, keyboardist Jon Lord, bassist Roger Glover, and drummer Ian Paice. Filmed in black and white on March 1, 1972, in Copenhagen, Denmark, by Danish national radio and television, the first performance boasts the only time this lineup was ever captured on film for a full-length concert. It has never before been screened in its entirety. The second performance, filmed in color in May 1973 in New York City ...

| | Uriah Heep Wake The Sleeper CD (2008)
Uriah Heep - Ultimate Anthology video
$13.59 Although Uriah Heep is known for its extensive personnel changes, its lineup has been stable since the mid-'80s; unfortunately, that stability coincided with the band's commercial decline (its last album to chart in the U.S. came in 1983, its last in its native U.K., 1985). So, no one outside the group's fan base noticed that the quintet of founding member and guitarist Mick Box, drummer Lee Kerslake (1971-1978, 1982-2007), bassist Trevor Bolder (who joined in 1977, left during the band's hiatus in the early '80s, and returned a couple of years after its re-formation), singer Bernie Shaw, and keyboard player Phil Lanzon (both of whom joined in the mid-'80s) remained in place through numerous world tours and the studio albums Raging Silence (1989), Different World (1991), Sea of Light (1995), and Sonic Origami (1998). Since then, a series of live albums have testified to Uriah Heep's continued existence. In January 2007, Kerslake bowed out due to health problems and was replaced by the capable Russell Gilbrook. Wake the Sleeper, Uriah Heep's first studio album in ten years and 21st overall, finds the group attempting to reclaim its original glory. It has had time to gather some quality material and to assess its long-term musical approach, and the album is both consistent with its sound over the years and a statement of purpose for the present and the future. As if to blow away the cobwebs, the album begins with three consecutive quick-tempo rockers, the title song (which has no lyrics except for that title), "Overload," and the socially conscious "Tears of the World" ("The tears of the world keep falling until we stand together.") Things slow down only slightly with "Light of a Thousand Stars," ...
