 Sammy Simply Shines!
Finally, after all these years we have got ourselves a re-release of the some of the great impressions from Sammy Davis Jr.But better late than never is the watchword here. The first half of this cd is devoted to Sammy's brilliant take-offs of all of our favourite singers and actors of yesteryear; with a huge slice of his zany humour injected into the mix. His Mario Lanza ,Frankie Laine, Nat King Cole and Ray Charles renditions are among the best of many on this disc. Part two is devoted to the 'real' Sammy that we have come to love over the years; singing good standard tracks with his own inimitable style and panache. How many impressionists have you seen doing Sammy Davis Jr lately? Exactly, and this is probably because he was such a hard act to ape and nobody could effectively capture the talent and pathos this guy had and relicate it. Great stuff here and worthy of any fans collection.

 Great Impressions
For years, Sammy's best impressions have been out of print. So finally, we have some reissues. Sammy's other cd "Collectors Series" had numerous impressions, but it's out of print. There have been a few cd's of Sammy impressions, most notably on the Rat Pack live cd collections, but this one was done in the studio. So you don't have Frank or Dean trying to mess Sammy up with their comments. The album is really funny! Sammy has Billy Eckstine and Vaughn Monroe down to science, not to mention Satchmo too! The second half of this album is the real Sammy with no impressions, so you get both the serious and the funny! If you love hearing Sammy doing impressions, you'll love this one!

 Try other Sammy Davis albums first.
Although I love music by Sammy Davis Jr the impersonations on this album start to get annoying to me after listening to them a couple of times. Try the other Sammy Davis albums of the Collector's Choice Music series first before deciding to buy this one.

 Impersonations by the Master
Sammy Davis Jr appears as just about everyone else in a range of songs and routines no one has ever done better. This album brings together all his best take-offs of comics and actors - you would be hard pressed to quickly guess them all. Oviously such an album can be repetitive but you will never tire of Sam's talent.
