Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) album for sale Product Description

Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) album for sale by Brian Eno was released Jun 01, 2004 on the Virgin label. Yet Eno's grasp of melody and songcraft is everywhere: on the bouncing, absurdist/philosophical "Burning Airlines (Give You So Much More)," and on straight-out rockers, like the deliciously intense "Third Uncle" (which is propelled by the churning guitar of Roxy Music's Phil Manzenera, and is, arguably, the album's highlight). Concurrent with David Bowie's ALADDIN SANE-era alien aesthetic, Eno's tunes are even more otherwordly and warped than his glam cohort, making use of the full palette of bizarro synthesizer effects and creepy-cheeky postures. Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) CD music contains a single disc with 10 songs.   ...See Full Description

Art Rock's Surrealistic Masterpiece
Before Brian Eno became renowned for being the producer of U2 and Talking Heads albums, and the composer of the little ditties heard when booting-up Microsoft programs -- there was Tiger Mountain.

Too Good To Be True...
Yes it is.... Too good to be true. "Taking Tiger Mountain" is quite simply the best of the vocal albums (in my humble opinion) recorded by Brian Eno and without question, one of the most under-rated influential albums from the '70s.

The present 30 years before.
I think i'll take the headline, it's simple, he was ahead of his time...listening Air's Talkie Walkie i realized that.

Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) buy CD music This live album was originally released as a double LP in 1982, when the Talking Heads were still extremely active. Twenty-two years later, the bonus-laden, two-CD reissue serves as a fascinating in-concert document of the phases the band went through during its first five years. The late-'70s tracks on the first disc show the early version of the band in all its geeky glory, mixing spastic New Wave quirkiness, funk rhythms, and art-school lyrics. It's intriguing to hear the difference between some of the songs' inception and their eventual recorded versions, such as a relatively straightforward "Electricity (Drugs)," which would turn ominous and atmospheric on FEAR OF MUSIC. The second disc captures the expanded, early-'80s version of the band, with extra musicians and backing vocalists in tow, tackling the fugue-like art-funk masterpieces of the aforementioned album and REMAIN IN LIGHT. It's all the more impressive to hear the interlocking of the guitars, keyboards, and percussion achieved without the benefit of studio overdubbing, and David Byrne's near-manic intensity is even more focused and affecting in the live setting. Even vinyl freaks/Heads maniacs who hung on to the original LP for two decades will need to get this, if only for the wealth of indispensable bonus tracks. Formed in NYC in the mid-'70s by David Byrne, Chris Franz, Tina Weymouth, & ex-Modern Lover Jerry Harrison, Talking Heads soared out of their humble CBGB's beginnings to become Rock & Roll Hall of Famers & one of the most adventurous & influential bands ever. The onstage energy that propelled their rise to fame was documented in the 1982 double-LP set THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS, now available on CD for the first time. Following them through several early evolutions from '77-'81, this live gem - a 1982 Top 40 Billboard Album- is a riveting portrait of a stellar band on the rise. For its CD debut it's been expanded with over 30 minutes of rare & mostly previously unreleased bonus material. Audio Mixers: Ed Stasium; Talking Heads; Dave Artale; Ken Rasek; Butch Jones. Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) CD music It was here that Eno first began to experiment with abstract soundscapes, to employ a greater spatial element and the ethereal synthesizer effects that presaged an entire movement of ambient music. While most of the tracks are instrumental, the numbers that feature Eno's peculiar, affectless voice and free-associative lyrics seem to blend into the fabric of the album. Superior guest musicians include John Cale, Robert Fripp and Phil Collins. From the brain-bending riff of "Sky-Saw, through the elemental creeping of "Sombre Reptiles;" from Robert Fripp's looping solos in "St. Elmo's Fire" to the dark swirl of "Spirits Drifting," ANOTHER GREEN WORLD creates a superb series of sonic atmospheres that are rhythmic, expansive, strange and beautiful. Personnel: Brian Eno (guitar, piano, organ, synthesizer, percussion); Robert Fripp (guitar); John Cale (viola); Brian Turrington (piano, bass); Rod Melvin (electric piano); Percy Jones, Paul Rudolph (bass); Phil Collins (drums). Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) songs On two quite different pieces--the closing title-track and "On Some Faraway Beach"--a different side of Eno was laid bare. These mid-tempo, mostly wordless sound-paintings construct melancholy scenes out of grandiose, manipulated sounds, and gesture toward Eno's role as the father of ambient music. Savage guitar lines, erratic synthesizer, and pounding drums (Robert Fripp, Paul Thompson, and Phil Manzanera are among the excellent personnel) provide exciting textures on a collection as beguiling as it is invigorating. With WARM JETS Eno proved he was ready to jump off the edge of the pop universe, and to drag everyone else with him. By the time Brian Eno left Roxy Music and came to record this masterpiece of a debut in 1973, he already held in his grasp the raw tools to revolutionize popular music. HERE COME THE WARM JETS is bathed in his singular pop-with-a-wink aesthetic and free-associative imagination. Whether on the four-on-the-floor pre-punk stomp of "Needles In The Camel's Eye" or the Spector/VU trad-rock-ism of "Cindy Tells Me," the album displays an unabashed love of quirky, catchy pop. Macabre lyrics often subvert the melodies, a feature fully expressed on "Baby's On Fire," where the singer's cheeky vocals exaggerate the theme's comic ambiguity. Personnel: Brian Eno (vocals, guitar, keyboards, synthesizer); Paul Rudolph (guitar, bass guitar); Chris Spedding, Phil Manzanera, Robert Fripp (guitar); Lloyd Watson (slide guitar); Andy Mackay (saxophone, keyboards); Nick Judd, Nick Kool & The Koolaids (keyboards); Chris Thomas , John Wetton, Bill MacCormick, Busta "Cherry" Jones (bass guitar); Marty Simon, Simon King, Paul Thomson (drums); Sweetfeed (background vocals).

Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) album for sale Eno was a key figure in the development of Talking Heads, producing some of their most innovative albums. This collaboration with head Head Byrne built on the sonic ground the two had already broken together via their well established working relationship. The pair couldn't have known how influential MY LIFE IN THE BUSH OF GHOSTS would be in the next two decades. Deconstructing the avant-funk of the Heads' REMAIN IN LIGHT, Byrne and Eno recorded polyrhythmic backing tracks similar to that effort. Instead of creating lyrics or melodies to lay over them, the duo turned to "found sounds" and voices, looping everything from radio talk show conversations to Muslim chants atop the rhythm bed, before anyone even knew what a sampler was. The subsequent impact on everything, from electronica to World music to whatever Bill Laswell is doing this week, was inestimable. The most important thing is that all this high-minded studio wizardry works on a very immediately satisfying level. Author: Amos Tutuola. Photographer: Hugh Brown . Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) CD music Eno's last glam-pop album before devoting himself entirely to ambient experimentation, BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE showcases two sides of Eno's musical personality. The first half of the disc is characterized by floppy, pop-tinged romps reminiscent of his earlier albums (and heralding later Eno-piloted projects such as the Talking Heads' SPEAKING IN TONGUES). Tunes like "Backwater" and "King's Lead Hat" (a song whose lyrics are reputedly about the Talking Heads, the title an anagram of the band's name) feature bouncy beats and keyboards, silly, riddle-like lyrics and Eno's Muppet-ish vocals. The second half is considerably more subdued: the tender, airy feeling of tracks like "Julie With" and "Spider and I" indicate Eno's softer, abstract, synthesizer-dominated direction. Taken together, the fine tracks of this disc frame two sides of Eno: the pop songster and the ambient composer. Personnel: Brian Eno (vocals, guitar, piano, synthesizer, percussion); Kurt Schwitters (vocals); Paul Rudolph (guitar, bass guitar); Phil Manzanera, Robert Fripp, Fred Frith (guitar); Achim Roedelius (piano, electric piano); Mobile Moebius (electric piano); Percy Jones, Bill MacCormick, Brian Turrington (bass guitar); Dave Mattacks, Andy Fraser, Phil Collins, Jaki Liebezeit (drums); Rhett Davies, Shirley Caesar Williams (percussion).

Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) buy CD music APOLLO contains some of Eno's most carefully crafted melodies, wrought impressionistically in limpid, quicksilver synth and gilded with Lanois's liquid guitar lines. "Matta" and "Under Stars II" imagine the wonders of weightlessness and zero-gravity drift. Lanois's "Silver Morning" views the dawn's smoldering glow from above, while the golden rays of "Deep Blue Day" strain to break at the planet's horizon. "An Ending (Ascent)" watches tearfully from the heavens as a tiny blue Earth falls away into the cradling arms of space; "Always Returning" welcomes the sight of terra firma's green expanses; and the twinkling "Stars" casts its eyes heavenward with a new sense of respect and homesick longing. An ambient masterpiece. An invitation to score Al Reinert's film of the Apollo Mission's lunar landing provided Eno with the "opportunity to explore the feelings of space travel." APOLLO is "one small stepà" for Eno, here working both within and beyond the conceptual confines of his Ambient series. The disc's dozen gorgeous, evocative miniatures see Eno's first collaborative work with producer/guitarist Daniel Lanois--a collaborator who would prove central to many of Eno's subsequent projects--and with his own brother, pianist Roger Eno. Personnel: Brian Eno; Daniel Lanois , Roger Eno.
