"Songs about lost lovers, old friends, inanimate objects, the quandary of balancing money against art and the best ode to Mom since Tupac rapped from his prison cell...Rock on, brother Jude." --- SNACK CAKE MAGAZINE"The mid-American troubadour with the most amazing angelic tenor voice, at once reminds me of a persuasive, charismatic Dylan, a ragged and ripped jeans Jim Croce, and at times inherits the valuability of Tori Amos." --- ROCK LOVE"Jude is a singer/songwriter from L.A. whose voice and vision hark back to a long-vanished time when a kid and his guitar meant something. You know, a young starving artist whose damaged life makes no sense until the moment he gets on stage and begins to sing. He carries his burden in a rambling bundle of songs that are autobiographical without being cloying or overly oblique. His voice is a pristine instrument that clarifies the ambiguous. It sensuously soars and glides as he reaches back into his forgotten inner self and pulls out this unbelievable falsetto some men would be ashamed to use." --- MAGNET MAGAZINE
Personnel includes: Jude Christodal (vocals, acoustic guitar); Glen Holmen (upright bass); William Roe (electric bass); David Raven (drums). Engineers include: Chad Fischer, David McConnell, Curt Anderson. Principally recorded live at Cafe Largo, Los Angeles, California. Jude is a clever songwriter and performer. 430 N. Harper includes songs recorded in the studio or live at Café Largo in Los Angeles. Most of the tracks are just guitar and vocal. Several of these tunes are also on his major label debut, No One's Really Beautiful. Highlights of 430 N. Harper include "In Between," "Baby Ruth in Atlanta," "Love Letters," and "Prophet," among others. While a nice album by a fine artist, it does include over 85 blank tracks followed by one "hidden track" -- which is always irritating, no matter how good the hidden track is. In this case, the hidden track is not worth the wait. ~ Tim Griggs

430 N. Harper Ave.
$15.49 King Crimson: Gordon Haskell (vocals, bass); Robert Fripp (guitar, Mellotron, electric keyboards); Mel Collins (flute, saxophone); Andy McCulloch (drums); Peter Sinfield. Additional personnel: Jon Anderson (vocals); Robin Miller (oboe); Mark Charig (cornet); Nick Evans (trombone); Kevin Tippet (piano). Lizard is very consciously jazz-oriented -- the influence of Miles Davis (particularly Sketches of Spain) being especially prominent -- and very progressive, even compared with the two preceding albums. The pieces are longer and have extensive developmental sections, reminiscent ...

| | Michael White Land Of Spirit & Light CD (1973) Reissue; Remastered
430 N. Harper Ave.
$8.49 Personnel: Michael White (violin); Stanley Nash, Kenny Jenkins (vocals); Bob King (classical guitar); Prince Lasha (flute, alto flute, piccolo, clarinet); Ed Kelly (piano); Cecil McBee (bass instrument); Kenneth Nash (percussion). Released in 1974, Michael White's The Land of Spirit and Light is a spiritual jazz classic. Ambitious, outrageously creative, and aesthetically restless, it is simply one of the finest outings on the Impulse! label. Beginning with an unusual ensemble that included classical guitarist Bob King, bassist Cecil McBee, percussionist Kenneth Nash, Prince Lasha on woodwinds, and pianist Ed Kelly -- along with ...
| | Gabor Szabo Spellbinder CD (1966) Remastered
430 N. Harper Ave.
$8.65 Personnel: Gabor Szabo (vocals, guitar); Ron Carter (double bass); Chico Hamilton (drums); Willie Bobo, Victor Pantoja (percussion). Liner Note Author: Nat Hentoff. Released just six months after Gypsy '66, Gabor Szabo's second album as a leader (after leaving a sublime Chico Hamilton band that also included Charles Lloyd) remains one of his finest moments in the studio. Szabo utilized the tales of bassist Ron Carter and his old boss Hamilton on drums, as well as a pair of fine Latin percussionists -- Willie Bobo and Victor Pantoja. The groove quotient was very high on Spellbinder, maybe even higher than on later albums such as Jazz Raga or Sorcerer. This set is all Szabo, ...
