this is very entertaining satire that doesnt really deal much with reality but who wants reality???....we want to escape reality. Its a fun little show about a "real man" catching the bad guys.

I have loved this show since it first aired on TV back in the mid-eighties, and it is still just as great today as it was back then. David Rasche plays the title character Sledge Hammer and he is excellent as the parody of Dirty Harry style law enforcers. Harrison Page is fantastic in the role of Capt. Trunk, who's main gag is losing his cool and exploding in anger at the antics of Sledge, who you can guess is always causing trouble. Anne-Marie Martin is wonderful as Sledge's sidekick Dori Doreau, and she brings some much-needed balance and brains to the team. She also kicks some serious butt now and then too. Even the supporting cast is great. I cannot say enough good things about this show! In the famous words of Sledge Hammer, "Trust Me, I know what I'm doing!", and trust me when I say that you'll love Sledge Hammer!

THE BAND WAGON: Fading movie musical star Tony Hunter, down and out in Hollywood, decides to try his luck on the Broadway stage. Unfortunately, the simple hoofer discovers that a pretentious director has control of the project, and that instead of good humor, happy songs and a tapping chorus line, there'll be lengthy speeches, heavy drama and lots of deep soul-searching.
