(3 Customer Reviews)
In the tradition of classic unplugged albums by Nirvana and Alice in Chains, Sevendust's SOUTHSIDE DOUBLE-WIDE--recorded at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia--features the band going for the home-field advantage. The smoldering intensity of Lajon Witherspoon's vocal performance creates moments of emotional urgency, best evidenced in "Beautiful" and "Disgrace." Drummer Morgan Rose incorporates the hand percussion that an acoustic show often requires, yet he principally digs in on a full drum kit to maintain the band's momentum. Spare treatments of "Skeleton Song" and "Angel's Son" reveal a group that has developed solid songwriting, and the approach translates quite naturally in the unusual setting. Guitarist Clint Lowery shines as a second vocalist, especially on "Xmas Day" and a surprising cover of the Trent Reznor-penned "Hurt," included in tribute to the late Johnny Cash.
With three Gold records under their belt, over 1,000 live shows performed and millions of fans the world over, Sevendust once again is pushing the musical boundaries with this, their ground-breaking acoustic live concert performance. Recorded live at the Georgia Theatre, Athens, GA on Sept. 12th, 2003, this CD/DVD captures the beauty of Sevendust's songwriting and musicianship over their intense 60 minute set, and features songs from the entire Sevendust catalog. This package includes a 70 minute CD, a 2 hour DVD, a Sevendust branded guitar pick and a 24-page booklet. Recorded live on 9/12/03 at the Georgia Theater in Athens, GA.
Sevendust: Clint Lowery (vocals, guitar); Lajon Witherspoon (vocals); John Connolly (guitar); Vince Hornsby (bass guitar); Morgan Rose (drums).

I am astounded of this release after Seasons They pull the plug on this one. Get the pun? The riffs are still hard on tracks 1,2,4,5,8,10 thru 14. The bonus track is barely audible like on their Seasons release I owned. Other tracks are so-so. Quite a release to be heard of from the library. Heh!
Nice way to pull off a Nine Inch Nails acoustic cover of Hurt off of Downward Spiral. Pretty tad interesting I'd have to say. Submitted by orangegreendesolate (Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Astounding Genius I was amazed when I heard Sevendust for the first time. I never knew how good they were until I heard Broken Down, which is by far my favorite song by them. Great Job 5 stars Submitted by Mr. T (Plantation, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live music CDs
$16.39 Enter the Worship Circle is a unique kind of worship album. While most such recordings contain covers of the worship standards, First Circle, and Second Circle, feature all original songs written by Ben and Robin Pasley, other Blue Renaissance Artists, members of the roots-rock band Waterdeep, and friends. What's more, the songs were recorded live, unplugged, and with no overdubs. The instrumentation is built on a foundation of acoustic guitars and the rhythms of hand drums. Enter the Worship Circle has a sound that is open and free form, beautiful as a well-laid plan, but spontaneous as a sincere declaration of love."With Enter the Worship Circle," explained Ben, "Robin and I wanted to give something back to music lovers and those people on a spiritual journey." To move to accomplish this was to print in the CD booklet suggestions about how to write your own worship songs. This is a deep-seated goal for Ben Pasley, and it has developed over years of experience. He began playing music as a teenager, and in college he joined a music team that performed in drug rehab centers, halfway ...

| | Slipknot Vol. 3: Subliminal Verses CDs (2004) Bonus CD; Special Edition
Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live album
$17.29 Far removed from their rap-metal roots, these masked men of extreme metal show no signs of relenting with VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES). For this brutal chapter of the Slipknot story, the jagged sound of fierce heaviness and moody melodicism is executed deftly, as Slipknot ducks crossover cliches and nu-metal formula. Esteemed studio guru Rick Rubin captures the group's raw intensity with sonic reverence, a feat not easily achieved with bands of this style. VOL. 3 delivers all the elements that Slipknot ...

Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live album
$11.15 Steve Baskin and the band were holed up at Real to Reel studio and Steve's Underground Studio at the end of 2008 and early 2009 recording the follow up to his debut album, "I Sometimes Think". "Naked" is the new album and its themes run all over the place – love; love gone bad; running; the stress of the office; the Zen of the river; runaways; prostitution; and death. In a 2007 article from The Valdosta Daily Times, "I Sometimes Think" was described as “a poppy blend of groove and soul with a nice slice of edge.” In a recent article, the newspaper contends that Naked is both more raw ...
| | Sasha Papernik Claremont CD (2009)
Southside Double-Wide: Acoustic Live CD music
$11.49 This singular album announces the recording debut of the pianist/singer-songwriter Sasha Papernik. Classically trained, Sasha started writing songs as a means of reaching a broader audience, and eventually hit upon a style all her own, where raucous, virtuosic piano riffs meet smooth, lovely melodies. The intelligent, introspective lyrics are the icing on the cake. Initially crafted as solo-piano pieces, the songs developed a driving energy after some fellow conservatory ...
