Kindness Of Strangers album for sale Product Description
Kindness Of Strangers album for sale by Spock's Beard was released Jun 22, 2004 on the Inside Out Music label. .1998's The Kindness of Strangers sees Spock's Beard returning to the more "suite" oriented format of their debut The Light, issued back in 1995. There, the set kicks off with "The Good Don't Last," a three-part ride that serves as Neal Morse's indictment of popular culture --though his lyrics are pure pop culture tripe. His screed belittles his wonderfully accessible and labyrinthine music; too bad. Kindness Of Strangers CD music contains a single disc with 12 songs. ...See Full Description

| Master Work With so much speculation as to what " progressive rock" really means these days, Spock's Beard illustrates what progressive rock should mean. Rather than adhere to a formula that caters to a specific band, SB blends elememts of sound that are recognizable as "prog" specific with what ever influences move them to create. The result is a CD that (like most of their work) explores a variety of subject matter and takes you on a musical roller coaster ride.Neal Morse is the driving force behind this band and his lightheartedly philosophical appraoch to music is a breath of fresh air. The band goes from bouncy tunes like "Cakewalk" to seriously engaging mini epics like "Flow" which closes the CD before you get into the bonus stuff and is one of the most intense and powerful pieces this band has ever recorded.I always recommend that parties interested in Spock's Beard's catalog start with this one. It's early work but it's got a solidness about it that stands alone from all their other work. By Trafficdogg (Inglewood, CA) This review is for a different format. |
| Their best album Spock's Beard is one of those bands that can create either very good music, or extremely bad music. Kindness of Strangers is their best album, IMO, followed by V. The others are not worth owning. However, if you are looking for a good prog CD, this is it. By a reviewer (Somewhere, Ohio) This review is for a different format. |
