Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour DVD (1967) Top Seller
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road film A typically Beatlesque film (i.e. atypical) originally produced for television, this short film was intended to be an off-the-wall road movie with the Beatles and three dozen or so friends on a psychedelic bus. Shot with only a vague script and only bare outlines of scenes, the movie was meant to document a trip to the seaside resort town of Blackpool, England. Made in September of 1967, The Beatles' brilliant rock album is transformed into colorful and energetic images. The film also contains the only live version of John Lennon's "I Am the Walrus." Third of the Beatles films to include Victor Spinetti, famous for his mohair sweater wearing role as the television director in A Hard Day's Night and as the determined scientist with the laser in Help! The movie was originally shown on BBC TV on December 26, 1967 inexplicably in black and white.
In September 1967 The Beatles embarked on making their third film, this time conceived and directed by themselves. Based on a loose unscripted narrative, in the spirit of the experimental mood of the time, and directed by The Beatles themselves, the film became the vehicle to present 6 new songs. Now, 45 years on, the virtually forgotten film has been fully restored and is being presented properly for the first time. Special features include Director's Commentary by Paul McCartney, The Making Of Magical Mystery Tour, Ringo The Actor - Meet The Supporting Cast, Your Mother Should Know, Blue Jay Way - The Fool On The Hill, Hello Goodbye from 'Top Of The Pops' 1967, Nat's Dream - I'm Going In A Field by Ivor Cutler; more.
