With a number of multi-platinum albums under its collective belt, country group Lonestar has succeeded where others have failed by combining the usual sparkling production values and top-notch songwriting craft of Nashville's best with down-home directness and bluegrass-influenced vocal harmonies. LET'S BE US AGAIN represents one of the ensemble's most mature and personal efforts. All but one of the tunes here were written or co-written by group members, and that undoubtedly contributes to the added dose of sincerity with which Lonestar imbues the performances. Led by lead vocalist Richie McDonald, the quartet celebrates the simple things, from the detailed description of a small-town hoe-down on "Country Fair" to "Mr. Mom," the tale of a hapless stay-at-home father.

Lonestar even better....
I have been a fan of Lonestar for as long as they've been a group. I have all thier albums. I bought this album with blind faith, thinking well the other albums were great this one has to be just as good. Well, it is even better, with more reflectiveness in their music. The whole album has a theme of the importance of relationships and how other people's lives we don't even know affect us. Like in "SOMEBODY'S SOMEONE" is a song about someone thinking about a solider that has been killed and how he may be one person, But he is SOMEBODY's son, husband, dad, cousin, uncle, friend etc and how the point of view of the son is done with a father talking to his son. "LETS BE US AGAIN" and "NOW" are very deep and eloquent songs about getting back to her and NOW and loving each other like we should. I found it very powerful. Songs like "COUNTY FAIR" gives the album the countryness we look for from country artist. If you like "Lonely Grill" and "I'm Already There" you'll love this album.
Don't wait buy it now,

$14.55 Bipolar is the 2001 album from critical whipping boy Vanilla Ice. Split into two sides, one filled with his rap-metal noodling and the other with his rap, the album is wildly uneven and at times hilariously bad. It is easy to be needlessly cruel to Vanilla Ice, his rapid rise and fall is one of music's biggest jokes. But his reputation is not improved by the music he continues to release. Much like his Hard to Swallow album from 1998, the heavy metal half of the album is not only derivative of bigger acts like Korn and the Deftones, but terribly generic. He tries to mix things up with a Godsmack-style delivery on songs like "Mudd Munster," but it comes off more as an imitation than a change of style. What is sad about the first part of the album is how Vanilla Ice is still better than a lot of the rap-metal bands that erupted in 2000/2001. Then the rap side of his album is a complete switch after the numbing metal that litters the first half. The beats are surprisingly solid, inspired by both RZA and Dr. Dre. Unfortunately, the raps themselves are both boring and simplistic. And out of nowhere, Chuck D suddenly appears and makes a guest appearance on "Elvis Killed Kennedy," instantly making it not only the best song on the album, but a sadly rare example of the talent that the former Public Enemy frontman still has. And then there is a series of answering machine messages from wrestlers, friends, and even Vanilla himself quoting Cape Fear. The message from former producer Ross Robinson is a good example of the needless filler that clogs up this album. A lot of people familiar with rap-metal know who Robinson is, but honestly does anyone care what he has to say about dirt biking on Vanilla Ice's answering machine? Vanilla tries really hard to make quality music, but he seems far more concerned with the genre he's copying than the actual music, leaving listeners with an empty album that only the most curious listener should dare to listen to. ~ Bradley Torreano
